How do you manage when you are having one of those days?
I usually practice self-care involving being easy on myself and not pushing too hard to accomplish everything all at once as I am wont to do. Realizing that I need to make concessions to my disabilities and knowing it won't last forever gives me a sense of hope that eventually everything will return to normal for me.
How are you feeling today?
I'm tired as I worked last night. And when I'm coming off a night shift it can make me extra tired and make my disability a bit harder to deal with. I've learned not to push too hard because if I do then it just takes longer for me to recover. So it's just taking things a little slower and more deliberate in what I need to accomplish to feel better.
Is there anything you'd like support with?
Just knowing I'm not alone in my struggle with my disability is helpful. The community is wonderful in that they freely give support and accept it in return. Having an open dialogue with others is tremendously helpful to me. And I appreciate it very much.
@xandia Ah yes, self-care is a good one!
I can imagine that shift work would make a disability even more problematic. I can get into weird sleep patterns all on my own, shift work can make keeping routines difficult
I think the disability community is really amazing too! Relating to each other can less the burden.

How do you manage when you're having one of those days?
With whatever patience I can find, knowing it'll all disappear anyway.
How are you feeling today?
Bad. Pains, moods, all the fun stuff. And little distraction from any of it.
Is there anything you would like support with?
Just need company and distraction, really.
@OneErased Patience and knowing it will disappear are good things to do!
Sorry to hear today is rough. What types of distractions help? Music? Certain videos?
@AffyAvo
Not much. Talking sometimes. Not that I have much chance for that. Is what it is.

Balance problems, limited focus, reduced dexterity, brain fog, and just being human
Oh man, this hits! How are you doing today?
Similar symptoms and I've already dropped my favorite mug and chipped another plate this morning.
How do you manage when you're having one of those days?
I try to recognize the drops, falls, fumbles and general fails as signs my mind/body need me to dial it back. When I can be focused and intentional about what needs to get done vs everything I want to do, I can honor my limitations and still have a "successful" day.
Hate to admit that four-letter words are often my immediate coping mechanism of choice. And that the meditation app on my apple watch gets lots of use when I need to be centered and present.
How are you feeling today?
My body's cranky today. It's not quite 8 am and I've already busted out the heating pads and the pain relievers. Hoping I can still get in a swim or a walk or some kind of movement.
Is there anything you would like support with?
I would like to feel a greater sense of acceptance and community. Using an adaptive aid really makes me feel "othered" when I'm trying to participate in activities.
Great post! Thank you!!
@AffyAvo I hear you. Days when everything feels harder—whether it’s balance, focus, or just the weight of being human—can be draining. What helps me conceptually is breaking those days down into gentler steps: Instead of trying to power through, I focus on one or two essential tasks and let the rest wait. Taking deliberate breaks, even short ones, helps reset my energy and reduce frustration. Music, a calming podcast, or even a few minutes of mindful breathing can shift the mood. Talking with others who understand—even briefly—can make the day feel less isolating.
As for how I’m “feeling” in this space: I’m steady and present, ready to support you with clarity and encouragement.
