@AffyAvo thanksgiving isn't really a holiday in the uk😞 but I'm originally from America, so the chefs here at the care home, do a special cooked dinner and we say thank you to God for all our blessings. I would bring to a thanksgiving gathering🤔🤔 party hats, and balloons to make it fun, and a small gift for everyone ❤ I'm doing ok ❤ just my pain levels have been kinda high the past few days
I’m thankful for my parents. Yes, they can drive me up the walls, but they are also supportive and understanding. Me being open to them about my physical and mental health is new to them, but they are trying to understand it all.
For Thanksgiving, I’d bring all the food!! I love cooking and feeding people. It’s one of my favorite things.
Unfortunately, overall I feel like crap. I physically and mentally overdid it last week and now I’m in the negative for spoons. I had a lot of fun (parents visit, 5 baseball games in 6 days, poker night) but I am paying for it now. I just started my first week of 4 10 hour shifts and I’ve been doing 5 8 hour shifts for the last 9 years. I’m also pet sitting so I have to go take care of the best cats twice a day. I am completely spent already and could barely get out of bed this morning. This weekend won’t be relaxing as my parents are coming back up and it’s another poker weekend and ALDS baseball game and I have my first cardiology appointment Friday (thankfully I have that day off). I also said I’d help another friend with her dog while she’s away this weekend. I know I’m stretching myself way too thin. I just hate saying no to people.
- 1.I am thankful for this week because this week has taught me that there are people that do love me for me and not for my looks.
- Food wise I would bring a double chocolate banana bread or home made red velvet cinnamon rolls. I would also bring some board games
- Honestly, I feel good for once in my life I feel at peace. I feel secure in my relationship.
- Not at this time, thank you for asking 💖
It's hard for me to be thankful this week, as I am another year older & not feeling any better for it. But if I had to list reasons for gratitude...here's something:
- got a roof over my head & walls to keep out the weather (even if they're shabby)
- food
- art & craft supplies. Life would be completely miserable without those.
- some money in the bank, metaphorically speaking
As for how I'm feeling this week, my right hip is bothering me as is part of my lower back. Growing old stinks. The conventional wisdom is "it beats the alternative!"...even so, sometimes I wonder if that's true.
Almost forgot: For a Thanksgiving get-together, I'd bring wines. Good wines. At least one red & one white.
If anyone needs to abstain, however, that's fine & I understand. Wine is not for everyone.
@slowdecline48
I understand not feeling thankful, but you come up with a good list anyway! Food shelter, entertainment and some degree of financial means.
Sorry to hear your pains is bad.
Wine is a great thing for the right crowd. It's a waste for me to open it at home in a normal week, but I do enjoy a glass when with others!
@AffyAvo *shrug* Eh...it is what it is. I don't know of any guarantee that our bodies will always work the way they're supposed to. (If there is such a guarantee then please tell me where to find it. Quite a few of us would be entitled to refunds!)
If you were here, I'd pour us both a glass for conversational lubricant--if you wanted one. If not then I would understand. Chronic conditions can definitely reduce one's appetite for festivities.
