I might possibly have IBS

I am a hypochondria I'll admit that straight out of the gate, I have a constant fear of cancer especially that can rule my life and cause me unbearable anxiety, where I've accepted I'm dying several times. I just wish I had the reassurance that I was fine but its Easter weekend so I can't get a doctor's appointment. I always think I have cancer, like for my stomach problems I think I have colon or stomach cancer, despite being only 19 and literally have no signs of it, other than stomach problems.

But this is different. I've had digestive issues for a while, along with unbearable period pain and cramps between my periods. I have a VERY sensitive stomach and lately I've had a lot of stabbing pains, along with gas and diarrhea and constipation. To the point where I avoid eating, I have all the markers of IBS (I know I am not supposed to google but this is different) Im a young female with mental health problems, all markers of IBS. Ive been tested for Celiac and Crohns, both of those tests came up negative, thankfully. But I still have this problem with eating and its beginning to disrupt my life. I am at my wits end here.

As well I have anemia and so much troubles sleeping, its been years since I felt well rested, I am in a constant state of exhaustion, despite taking iron and b12 supplements.

Also I might have cysts still which is terrible, I am going to bring this all up to my doctors but I am so worried and tired of having to deal with all of this sad

@DingoCrazy

Seek psychological support, its psychosomatic (psychology affecting your body condition)..

@DingoCrazy

It does sound like IBS, it's incredibly common. You can get medication over the counter in pharmacies for it, that work amazingly well.

I do smiley my doctor prescibed me an anti depressant (an extremely small dose, in fact I think one of the smallest) to help with nerve induced intestinal upset. I also have a prescription for Buscopan, which is an anti spasm medication that has been working wonders. I've still trying to fix my diet and all that, but that's a long process that's going to take time, as well as trial and error.

Right now I'm trying these two medications out and they appear to be working great and then I'm going to talk with my doctor again and go from there laugh

@DingoCrazy Hi there, I noticed that you were prescribed an anti-depressent for your IBS symptoms. I was prescribed Elavil/Amitriptyline just today for possible IBS, and after doing some reading, I am a bit worried about taking it.

I'm just wondering what your experiences of it were?

Thanks

Still go to the hospital to get it checked.

I got IBS, it's a bit tricky to learn good and bad days and what you can and cannot eat during this or that day, but eventually you get there.

I do a mixture of hot water, honey, cinnamon and milk on bad days, apperently cinnamon helps the tummy a bit, I've also heard vinegar but for me that makes my tummy upset.

Eat healthy, even normal tummies can mess up if you eat to much fatty and unhealthy food, so keep eating healthy.

Hi! IBS is very hard to diagnose, because it has a wide range of symptoms and no single cause. You're symptoms sound like a common case of Irritable Bowel Syndrome but try to schedule an appointment with a medical professional before coming to the conclusion that IBS is what it is (a gastrologist or primary care may be able to diagnose you.)

@chasingsilhcuettes Ugh!! Your***

Was really rushing to let you know all that stuff... <3

I have IBS, and it's a juggling act but I have a few coping methods and such to avoid being in pain.

1. Avoid trigger foods at all times! Pepperoni is my leading trigger food. Keep a list in a convenient place, like on a cabinet door or on your refridgerator. It's tempting to slip and have just a tiny taste sometimes but it's definitely not worth it!

2. IBS and IBSD are triggered by stress. Try to relieve your stressors and stay out of situatons with which you get anxious.

3. Keep over-the-counter pain relievers and/or a laxative on hand. You can try to ride it out but if your cramps get too bad or lst too long you're going to be begging for an anti-spasmatic.

I hope this helps you!!!!
