My severe misophonia is hurting my marriage and self
I have severe misphonia. Ever since I was a kid, around people eating, chewing and drinking things, as well as some other mouth noises.
My husband can't breathe through his nose, so he always breathes through his mouth which is a little annoying, but not as annoying as how he eats. He always chews with his mouth open and makes lots of noises. I am very polite when I eat, and make sure to take my time and always chew my food. My husband sometimes scarfes his food down like a dog.
I've told him that the noise bothers me and he hates it. He said I have to deal with it or leave. He gets really upset and now it's at the point where if I say anything he yells and swears and tells me to fuck off. I mean, I am being pretty horrible telling someone how they can and can't eat. But I cant help it. It;s a serious trigger for me and I try to ask hi nicely and suggest ways of eating better.
I think at this point he says I just need to deal with it. So, what do I do??
Thats not good im sorry you had to go through that you married that person for a reason im sure you husband ate like that way back when you both dating each other you acept the person for who they are you cant force him to eat normal well more politely and its no excuse for him to treat you like that he needs better manners you were only telling him that the noise bothers you he didnt have to have a go at you my fiancee eats with his mouth open my poor daughter and i have to run and hide in her bedroom cause he cracks the shits at us for eating with our mouth close my daughter eats with mouth open at the moment cause she has blocked nose due to cold he wont eat his dinner if im sitting at the table he calls names under his breath and walks off hes with me for my company but that just expired i know how you feel being told mean things and that half the time i dont feel anything for my fiancee some times i love him sometimes there is nothing there just empty hang in there okay and keep your chin up you should eat in the lounge room make your self comftable
