Yes. I'm sure it's extremely difficult to deal with. It fascinates me (most syndromes and such do). I've read about it and watched documentaries. But it's so little-known that no wonder there's no topic for it. There should be, though.
I have a form of Tourettes Syndrome and let me just start off with- it's a living hell. I constantly move, my entire body is affected by my nervous tics. I have facial expressions I MUST do. I viciously pop my bones over and over till I ache, and why do I do this you ask? I can't help it. When you have this syndrome there's like this switch in the back of yourmind telling you that youneed to do this or it will hurt and nag youto death. It's so hard to explain. My muscles will painfully tense up, and my body feels constricted- basically informing me I need to move my body painfully until that previous feeling leaves. I also have one verbal tic, I do a small cough randomly. I'll have to continuously blink my eyes until my brain says I'm done. I'll violently punch the air to relieve the tension in my arms, which isn't often; same goes for my legs. I think one of the worst things is the stares fromonlookers who don't understand, or the fact that I can't do things like other people. There is no cure. I am branded with an awful genetic coding that I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy.

What form is that, if I may ask? I have Tourette's Syndrome as well, since third grade, and, yes, it is a living Hell.
Muscular tourettes, tics basically. I also have the common clearing of my throat, anxiety,aggressivemood swings, unnatural repsonses when I'm startled. The common things that follow with tourettes.
Hey, guys, great news! Our "disability" is making it's way toward the top! We're on the first page, fifth post in the "Disability Not Listed?" category. That's excellent! Keep up the great work guys :) If you know anyone with Tourette's Syndrome and fits thecriteria to be on 7 Cups of Tea as a Member or Listener, please, refer them here! We would love to have more Members and Listeners, and we would as well love more support in this category.
Thanks,

Hello! Just wanted to let you know that I have tourettes. I am also a listener here. It looked like you were asking for people who fit thise criteria? Just wanted to say hi :)
I have Tourettes. One of ny biggest peeves is how this disorder is rarely talked about in a non-mocking or insensitive light! I have a array of physical and minor verbal tics. I am constantly moving my fingers, toes, cracking my neck, flexing my muscles, and have basically given myself carpal tunnels syndrome for my hands motions. I make weird noises and sounds under my breath, and cough/clear my throat. Because these things are viewed as disturbances or odd by others, i do have social anxiety/ self consciousness to an extent, but i work to over come this, by educating others, i try not to let it rule my life. If anyone else on here with Tourettes want to chat or even those who don't and have questions, feel free to ask! Education about this is important! I want to normalize Tourettes and the discussion of it!
Bonus question:
Does anyone else with Tourettes, tics act up when you talk/discuss them? its just a funny thing I've noticed happen!
Agreed.
I have tourettes.
I'm new to 7 cups, and I agree awareness definitely needs to be raised.
Most people that I mention it to either have no idea what it is, or think it's just 'some weird thing where a person has to curse all the time.'
Which, while not 100% untrue, is still quite incorrect.
I have had tourettes for as long as I can remember. I don't have it as bad as a lot of other, I don't have to yell with any of my tics, and most of them don't hurt me at all. In fact, I only really started to have noticeable vocal tics in 2015.
But it is still quite difficult to deal with, and the accompanying anxiety and other things don't help either.
A doctor told me I might have this
@HalliwellSister
That must be hard
Are you coping alright?
@Emily619
i think so. I'm still need to see a neurologist and get tests done
@HalliwellSister
That's wonderful you're taking action for your wellbeing
Feel free to let us know how it goes if you're comfortable with sharing!
Hi im new here and im suffering from tourettes and this is a hard battle. But to all those out there with tourettes i want you to know ur not alone and this battle may be difficult but its not impossible.
@Cheer4life2200
I know it's a hard battle, an extremely difficult one for that matter! However, I'm extremely proud of you for pushing through because you're going to win this battle!! Tourette's fades as you get older, so even if you don't win with a gold medal, you're still going to get better. Stay strong!
