Day 5) Having diabetes makes me tired, also having cerebral palsy can be frustrating because the pain it causes me.
day7) I find this to be a very tough question. I don't want to be negative but about Five years ago I didn't think I'd make it 3yrs. Too much pain and draining depression feeding my mind all the negativity and despair it could heap on me . Now....id have to say I would have more of a proper pain protocol, and with hard work and therapy I could retire to a life I feel like living in....
Day 1:
Hello!! I'm pretty new around here but am excited to be here! I have fibromyalgia, chronic depression, and generalized anxiety. With/because of those, I also fight insomnia. I have been dealing with depression for 27 years. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 8 years ago. I am still able to work and keep up with my 3 sons, so I feel blessed! Glad to find a place where I can connect with others who suffer from chronic illnesses!!
Welcome @ChristiS ! Happy to have you joining in!
Day 15
So much of what I struggled with after being diagnosed was related to self-infusing, in addition to the worry about attacks.
I would tell someone to not do everything associated with the medication in one day. I learned to prep, do the IV and had my first dose all in one very long appointment. Also, the training IV tools are BS. Use them to figure out what hold you like of the needle but you do not need to worry about pressing down that hard to get through and then needing to stop before hitting the bottom of the vein. Those things scared me off quite a bit!
Fibro affects my life by limiting my activities because of pain and lack of energy. I often have to say no to activities I would enjoy just because I physically can't. I've learned that on days that I feel bad, even regular activities above and beyond work have to go by the wayside so I can rest and recover.
Day 6) Since I was young when I received both diagnoses of cerebral palsy and diabetes, I didn't understand what all this meant but as adult I would tell my younger self you'll face many challenges but NEVER give up!
Day 3: How did you get a diagnosis?
With the depression, I had a suicide attempt at 16 and subsequently ended up in a private psychiatric hospital, where I was diagnosed with a chemical imbalance. When I was 21 and had my second bout, I recognized it and took myself to a counselor and then to a psychiatrist. I have been in and out of counseling since then, but have taken medication for the chemical imbalance since then except for the first trimester of each pregnancy.
With the fibromyalgia, my family physician started by doing a sleep study, then more tests, and I eventually ended up at a rhumatologist who gave me a definite diagnosis.
I also have some sort of neurological issue that has yet to be diagnosed. I see a neurologist every six months for this. I've had several MRIs, CT scans, and even a spinal tap. The lesion I have in my brain is consistent with MS, but there is only one lesion at the time. So it is a waiting game with that.
day9)sure, there have been many, all the usual ones, massage, chiro, physio, accunpture, swmming, yoga. I have also done laser and pain blox and Botox . And I'm heavy into essential oils.
Day10)My husband , that is... He takes most of my load I truly could not accomplish anything without his help. It's just we r miles apart emotionally and I continually fear him leaving. I'd say I can't live without his support, but in many ways have been right the way along....
Day 4: How have your friends and family reacted to it?
My family and friends have been very supportive and understanding for the most part. There are a few that don't understand and really make no attempt to, and downplay it or blame it all on the weather. I try to ignore them and/or not give them any information on how I'm feeling so they don't have any fodder with which to work.
