1. What is your hope for the disability community over the next year?

Well, I think it might be nice to have something along the lines of having people telling what they have experienced being disabled in their home as well as public life. I know where I work very few know that I'm disabled. I normally don't discuss my disability because, even in these days of enlightenment, there are still people who think you are not as "able" in your occupation as an able-bodied individual. Well, to that I say "poppycock"!! I can run circles around newbies; and I don't plan on stopping either.

2. What do you hope for in the post-COVID-19 world?

My hope is that we can a breathe a sigh of relief when all is said and done. But, in my personal opinion, that may take some time. But it can and will arrive. Another hope is that we learn a lot from what we have encountered with this virus and discover how to thwart future viruses so we do not have to repeat this process. In my field I live by the motto "Those who don't learn from an experience are doomed to repeat it." I, for one, have no desire to ever, ever, repeat this.

3. What do you hope your future holds?

There are two things on the horizon for me. One, I plan to retire within the next two years come this January. I will have put in 43 years in my field and it is time for me to enjoy my life and all it has to offer. Second, I plan to marry. I have never been married; although I was engaged twice in my 20's. I have no children so it will be nice to spend my retirement with someone I truly love and admire. He is wonderful and I could not ask for a better person in my life. I really, truly, love him. ❤️💞💘💖

I'd hope that people would be more accepting of people who are "differently abled." After all, we've been through with COVID we just need to be more loving of each other. Personally, I want to go back to work next December and take my service dog with me without getting weird looks.
