Technology - Do you embrace it or fight with it?
Technology has come a long ways in a short time. Not very long ago the first cars were made and now there are flying and self driving cars. Not too long ago we had old fashioned AM radios and now we have the internet, Stormcloud, Spotify, Appletunes and others. Technology helps us to adapt to our disabilities with tools such as Dragon Natural Speaking to help with dictation, computer operation and more. Powerchairs help us with mobility. Exoskeletons will soon allow paraplegics to walk.
Do you embrace technology or do you fight it? What is some of the technology you are aware of? Do you use technology in your everyday living?
@WeedyGarden
Embrace it, but do not lose yourself in it. Take a day or two of the week to step back and remember who you are without technology. Read a book, go outside etc. Remember your purpose.
Best wishes.
@ImTryingMyBes I used to be a bit of a ludite. I think I was the last person on the planet to give up my corded phone for a cell phone.
There is nothing like spending a day in the forest away from civilization and technology.
@WeedyGarden I agree with you that spending time away from technology is a nice experience too.
@WeedyGarden
It feels like there is no choice but to embrace it to a certain degree. But I definitely limit the use and avoid it if I can.
@WeedyGarden
I love!!!!!! Technology ima probably somewhat addicted to my phone lol
@Fireskye13 I don't do on my phone what I can on my PC. Phone is such a tiny screen while my PC is hooked up to a large screen TV. I love to read about new technologies and I would be lost without internet.
@WeedyGarden
Ima hoping Santa brings me a tablet or laptop. All I have is phone.
Embrace it. It's very helpful
@positiveRiver9935 I agree, technology is very useful. I know people who use technology for mobility, to read, to speak, to operate their computer and more.
@positiveRiver9935 True, technology is very helpful.
@WeedyGarden I embrace technology very much. I use computer, car, smart phone, pulic transport, stove, refrigerator, lightning, electric wheelchair, hearing aid and many other devices.
I embrace very much also the application which warns you that you were in contact with someone infected with coronavirus, but some updates are needed in order that we would know when we were in contact, where and that we get prompt warning. We get information only next day now and it isn't very great.
@WeedyGarden I embrace video calls and computer games very much.
I used to have a technical profession and I can't do it anymore because of my disability, so that bothers me a lot. But, I have recently figured out I can use a stylus and a free app (Autodesk Sketchbook) to draw on my phone screen with it propped up and that is giving me a lot of enjoyment! So, a mix for me.
Honestly, I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with tech — some days it makes life easier, other days it’s just another thing to figure out. But when it works, it’s kind of amazing. One tool that’s helped me a lot recently is a digital business card platform for field sales I use one and it’s made networking way smoother without carrying around a stack of paper cards. Small things like that show how tech, when done right, really fits into everyday life without feeling overwhelming.
