Chronic Pain Advice/Support

I’m a 25-year-old male, and I’ve been dealing with chronic pain for about 4–5 years now. It originally started with stomach issues and severe constipation. I was able to get past that for a while (not entirely sure how), but over time it shifted into something different.

Now I experience ongoing muscular pain on the left side of my body — starting from my neck and going down through my upper and lower back, into my hip, ankle, and foot. It doesn’t seem like nerve pain since I don’t have numbness or tingling, but it’s persistent and really hard to ignore.

I’ve seen multiple doctors over the years, had tests done, and even tried physical therapy, but nothing major has ever come up or fully resolved the issue. Because of that, I’ve started to wonder if this might be more connected to stress and anxiety.

The pain is on my mind almost constantly, and it makes it hard to feel present in my daily life. I feel stuck in my own head, always aware of my body and the discomfort. It’s exhausting, and honestly, it’s really demotivating to feel this way at 25 — like my body is already broken this early in my life.

At this point, I feel like I’ve explored most physical explanations, so I’m trying to understand how to approach this from a mental or emotional perspective.

Has anyone gone through something similar? If so, what helped you manage or overcome it?

@redBeach431 I'm 25 too😁 I also have constant pain🙁 but from disabilities. So yeah I understand how hard, tiring and demotivating it constantly is🙁 if it is caused from mental health I guess it's about finding where it stems from first (perhaps a therapist can help you with that part) when your in so much pain all you can do right now is be kind to yourself 💖 and try and find little hobbies/things that make you happy, that you can do without agrevating the painful side💖 I'm here for you 💖 I really hope you find the course and be in less pain real soon💖

I’m 22 and I also experience chronic pain. When I talked to my dr she said that sometimes when our body has so much pain happening everything starts to hurt because like our bodies don’t know what to perceive as the main “problem”.

I also have some chronic conditions like POTS and hypermobility that impact my perception of pain in my body. My dr started me on naltrexone and I’ve responded really well to it. It takes away the pain enough most times to be able to focus on other things in your life.

I’m sorry you’re experiencing this at such a young age. I also am experiencing the exhaustion and sadness that I can’t be doing the things I want to in my early 20s due to pain etc. It’s okay to be frustrated or angry or sad and grieve the 25 year old you wish you could be. It’s a really difficult situation!

It sounds like a handful of us probably fall in the EDS category which can be really complicated with pain stuff etc.

I was impressed with the kindness and support everyone has given to the thread, good to know there is still sweetness out in the world.

For me I guess what helps is knowing that things change and either they get somewhat better over time, or I find ways to adapt. I don't feel like that's a very good response though I wish I could offer something better.
