What’s your experience with being deaf or partially deaf?
I’m partially deaf, partly from blasting my metal in my earbuds for years.
@jesusredeemedme2425 Hi!, good to see you here! I think we all love loud music sometimes, but I have to ask, have you had your hearing checked? What makes you feel it is your earbuds that have caused this?
I know I used to go to lots of extremely loud concerts and come home with my ears ringing for days! Now of course musicians wear noise cancelling and reducing earbuds when they play and we are much more aware of the potential problems of very loud music. But even so noise-cancelling over ear headphones seem to be the current new way to help prevent damage. and even those raise questions.
It can be so easy to sneak wearing earbuds for long periods, especially when studying or at work, so it's good that you have raised this here for us to think about.
What will you do next? What steps can you take to help your hearing, or help others?
I’ve gotten tested at the audiologist, and I have mild hearing loss. It’s not a huge deal, just makes my coworkers constantly have to repeat themselves lol
@jesusredeemedme2425 Good you got a test, was it easy to get? I know that different damage can cause different frequency changes. Did you get any advice about what to do now, how to protect your hearing?
It was easy to get, and I don’t know if they gave me advice… It was quite awhile ago lol
