Disability in the USA SSDI
Hello, I recently sent an application to get Disability Benefits back in February.
Originally, I was working full-time, but my condition has been getting more severe, so I went down to part-time, $15/hour, 25 hours/week. I’m thinking of dropping down even more with hours, since my condition has been getting worse, but I won’t be able to afford my bills.
I reached out to One Advocate, and they are taking my case to a lawyer that specializes in mental health disability cases and has worked with younger people, I’m 25F. The One Advocate person recommended that I cut down my hours even more, or I should quit my job so that I have a better chance of getting disability benefits. I just don’t know how I’m going to afford to pay my medical bills, car payments, car insurance, and everything else while I wait to see if they approve my application. Has anyone else had this struggle?
I’m sure the disability lawyer will be able to help advise me on this as well, but I’m not sure if he will even take my case. I feel so hopeless and lost. I’m having a really hard time working and even doing daily life activities too.

That sounds extremely stressful.
It would be helpful if they didn't take so long making a decision, atleast then you could put some plans in place! 😔💛
It’s so stressful, and I feel so hopeless and lost. I want to get as much support as I can during my time of need, and it just seems like I’m not going to be able to receive that help.

@GalaxyDreamer28 Hello. I'm applying for disability as well based on my condition MPS disease type one. I'm 31 years old. I have to complete a physical exam on Wednesday. After the exam is completed I should get approved. I have a friend who works for SSA in the state of Illinois. He's helped several patients with my disorder get approved. The process is a roller coaster. Some if not all the people who work within the system can be rude and don't listen. It's very stressful, but don't give up. I hope everything will work out for you and you get the answers you seek. Thank you for sharing. It's good to stay in touch with others who are going through a similar situation.

@GalaxyDreamer28 Of course. I'm sure things will improve for you. I recommend, getting in contact with a state representative. They will advocate for you and do whatever they can to help. I got one and she's been great.
thank you for your support! 💕 Things have gotten a lot better, I’ve had an epiphany for what I want to do for a career. I’m hoping to become a massage therapist, so I’m gonna go to school and I’m trying to find a new job that I can work while going to school.
You are not alone. Many people struggle to get approved on SSI especially if you are working bc you literally have to! I understand completely! I wish you the very best of luck!!
Thank you for your support 💕 I’ve recently had an epiphany with what I want to do career wise, so I don’t think I’ll qualify for it anymore, since I’m going to be going to school, and I’m trying to get a new job while I go to school.
