Bio

Hello! I am a college student currently going for my bachelor’s in Human Development and Family Sciences, so I am learning the ropes to become a therapist later on! I am diagnosed with bipolar type 2 and PMDD, so I am familiar with these mental and emotional disabilities. I love to stay positive and try to find the silver lining in everything. I love to do anything artsy, playing video games, socializing, and I absolutely love my pets (I have three cats and one dog). I am a bisexual cis gendered woman. I am in a long-term relationship with my boyfriend, so I am open to giving relationship advice.

...See more Hello, I have a case of OCD, where I have obsessions, but don’t really have a lot of compulsions. I have obsessions that are centered around a theme of harm, which has caused me to quit jobs, and made my life really chaotic, and full of stress and anxiety. I’ve started a new job recently, as well as new medication changes, and I’ve had anxiety about being back to work, especially since I’m new to the industry that I work in. Near the beginning of my new medication change, I’ve had a lot of anxiety and strong urges to quit my job because I’m not immediately a pro at it and everything is still new. I talk myself down, saying that experience comes with time, and my coworkers and higher ups will support me. Is there anything else that I can do when the urges are strong, and when my mind wants to spiral? Thankfully, my medication seems to be kicking in now. I have Bipolar Type 2, and I’m switching from Latuda to Zyprexa, and we recently increased the Zyprexa more, because I was really struggling with the change at first.

...See more Hello reader, I am diagnosed with Bipolar Type 2, and I’ve been struggling to find the right medication for me. My psychiatrist has switched me from Latuda to Zyprexa, and I’m so anxious. I was on the highest dose for Latuda, and that didn’t help me enough, so I’m just hoping that this new medication will be life changing for me. I’ve been in a depressive episode for a long time, and I’m just ready to be out of it. I’ve also started a new job too, so I’m hoping the transition to the new medication will go smoothly for me, and I won’t be in crisis during it. I’ve informed my partner, and I have him for support. I really don’t want to have to take Lithium, so I’m praying that Zyprexa works for me.

...See more I recently heard about Massage Therapy being a career that interests me, and I am doing everything I can to learn more about it and to see if it will work for me. Currently, I’m having a hard time at my current job, but I have been applying to other jobs in my area that can provide me with a flexible schedule, so that I can go to school for Medical Massage Therapy. I recently applied to a Massage Therapy Clinic to work the front desk, and it seems very likely that they will reach out for an interview, since I informed them that I will be going to school for massage therapy. They are willing to be flexible with my schedule for school, and I’ll start out part-time, which is fine, I was thinking part-time starting out would work best for me. I’m struggling to be patient, and to wait for responses from employers. I just hate my current job so much, and I can’t just quit because I have bills to pay for, but I seriously have panic attacks daily from this job. I’m so over it, and I just want to live happily and healthily. Anyone have any advice on how I can bite the bullet and continue to work my *** job until I get a new one?

Disability in the USA SSDI

...See more Hello, I recently sent an application to get Disability Benefits back in February. Originally, I was working full-time, but my condition has been getting more severe, so I went down to part-time, $15/hour, 25 hours/week. I’m thinking of dropping down even more with hours, since my condition has been getting worse, but I won’t be able to afford my bills. I reached out to One Advocate, and they are taking my case to a lawyer that specializes in mental health disability cases and has worked with younger people, I’m 25F. The One Advocate person recommended that I cut down my hours even more, or I should quit my job so that I have a better chance of getting disability benefits. I just don’t know how I’m going to afford to pay my medical bills, car payments, car insurance, and everything else while I wait to see if they approve my application. Has anyone else had this struggle? I’m sure the disability lawyer will be able to help advise me on this as well, but I’m not sure if he will even take my case. I feel so hopeless and lost. I’m having a really hard time working and even doing daily life activities too.

Managing Anxiety

...See more Hello, I’ve been experiencing severe anxiety the past several weeks, almost a month now, and I’m struggling to find relief. I recently got medicated for anxiety, but I won’t feel the effect of the medication until a couple weeks into taking it. Besides using my rescue anxiety medication, which sorta helps with the physical symptoms of my anxiety, is there anything else I can do to reduce anxiety? One thing that is currently triggering my anxiety is my job. I actually do my job very well, but I have anxiety with it. I work remotely for a call center job, and it’s emotionally draining, and I recently went from full-time, to part-time due to my mental health declining so much recently. Support and advice is appreciated.

Trying to Find Peace in Current Job

...See more Hello, I currently work at the Ohio Medicaid Consumer Hotline, I work from home, and I currently work a part-time schedule due to my mental health getting worse recently. I’ve noticed that my job really triggers my anxiety, since you never know what kind of call you’re going to get, and it’s been so severe, that I’ve been having a panic attack daily, and have been nauseous and vomiting a lot. I do really well at my job, so I know it’s not a performance issue. Since I’ve started working from home, the vomiting has subsided, but I still get panic attacks daily in the mornings. I’ve gone to a behavioral health urgent care to see if they can medicate me for Anxiety, and I’ll be seeing my psychiatrist on the 8th, and I’ll want to go back to the max dose for my mood stabilizing medication too for my Bipolar since I’ve been in a depressive episode for a while. The anxiety medication takes about two weeks in order for me to feel the effects. Does anyone have any tips on how I can continue to go to work and do my job while I’m suffering?

...See more I recently changed from working full-time to working part-time due to my Bipolar Disorder and Narcolepsy getting worse. I’m still able to afford all my bills, and I’d have a little bit of money left over. I believe that it’s the best decision for me at this point in time, because I want to focus more on my health. I’d also qualify for Medicaid, and I’d qualify for disability, which I’m in the application process for it. I know that I’ve made a good and informed decision on my own about my life, but I can’t help but feel weak and useless for not being able to work a full-time schedule. I just have so much pressure on myself and set high standards for myself. Does anyone have any advice on how to be kinder towards yourself, and to help me accept that I’ve made a good and informed decision for my job during this point in my life?
