helloo I’m 13, disabled I have diagnosed severe anxiety and severe/moderate depression (which is more in episodes / waves for me that last certain periods of time not constant.) and then not diagnosed but possible/likely OCD, ASD, ARFRID. I have been looking into service dogs and searching online onna daily for prospects as I would owner train for like a year If not more. I’ve constantly begged for help and no matter how many times I sit down with my mom like talking aboun when are you gonna get serious and actually help? when? and addressed it multiple times she needs to start something so we can actually get a fuckiing dog bevause it’s not that I’m not finding any I find a decent amount of dogs that seem fit. but since she does nothinf serious but then continues being like ohhh yaaa let’s go get! and is all sweet but won’t actuallt do it they just get adopted. She says it’s bevause my dad isnr understanding which he isn’t he is not there emotionally at all and we also struggle financially and I get that but it’s been months. She says not rn all the time well guess what I’m gonna be dead at this point bevause I can’t handle this *** anymore I cannot handle this life with absolutely no proper support. I’ve given enough time and I’ve tried so much that now I’m in a depressive episode again. even if this episode pasts I still am over with everything when I’m not in a episode bevause of my anxiety. I’m just so fuckinf done all I do is beg and plead I say how serious it is and nothing gets done. sorry for all the typos I don’t have the energy to fix it I literally have everything I need our place is not allow animals but yes I literally have a recommendation letter from my dr and he AGREES it would help me. I’m just so *** done of this ***

Your desires are valid, your needs are valid. It sounds like your parents don't have the capacity to allow you to have a dog or pet, even though you fundamental feel it's warranted.

At 13. You are a child and society tells you that you aren't allowed to make decisions like pet ownership. I would work on acceptance. There is a concept called "Radical acceptance" were you acknowledging everything right now might not be to your liking, but clinging to the idea things have to be your way right now, is causing you harm.

In a few years you'll be an adult. You can move to Tahiti, eat junk food every night, do whatever your heart desires. Until then, give up trying to control/manipulate your parents into meeting your needs in the way you want. They can only meet you as deeply as they have met themselves. It's not the child's responsibility to facilitate what your stated goals are. Do you understand what I'm try to say? Complaining about your parents can be a good outlet to vent your frustrations, but trying to expand thier capacity to meet your needs ~~~ is just not something that can be done, because they are unhealed, they lack the self-reflection to offer expansion for you.

Welcome to 7 cups!

There's often quite a few barriers to getting a service dog, I'm sorry to hear your parents are an additional one. I'm guessing you've already looked into charities that provide service dogs as well.

I hope you can find a variety of supports and the service dog does happen eventually.
