What’s your experience with prediabetes?

@jesusredeemedme2425 Thankfully it is pre-diabetes so it is reversible depending on why it is occurring. so this is such an important issue. Thanks for posting about it!
Diabetes is usually a lifelong condition so you are lucky that you are at a stage that is just a warning and with a few changes you can turn this around.

This information is from a previous post about pre-diabetes, maybe it is relevant, maybe use this post to let us know how you get on and what works for you. That way you can inspire others!

What Is Pre-Diabetes, Anyway?

Pre-diabetes is like your body waving a big yellow caution flag. It means your blood sugar (glucose) levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to be full-on diabetes. Think of it as the warning zone. Your body is starting to have trouble using insulin properly (that’s the hormone that helps sugar move from your blood into your cells). Left unchecked, pre-diabetes can turn into type 2 diabetes, which is more serious and harder to manage.

The crazy part? Lots of people don’t even know they have it. You might feel totally fine - but the internal stuff is already going sideways.

And Diabetes? That’s the Next Level

If pre-diabetes is the warning zone, diabetes is the danger zone. Specifically, type 2 diabetes means your body either doesn’t make enough insulin or it doesn’t use it well, and sugar builds up in your bloodstream. That can lead to long-term problems like heart disease, nerve damage, vision loss, kidney issues - the list goes on. It’s manageable, but it takes daily effort.

Can You Reverse Pre-Diabetes?

YES. 100% yes. The awesome thing about catching it early is that you can totally turn it around. With some changes, you can bring your blood sugar back to a healthy range and avoid diabetes altogether.

Here are the big moves that really make a difference:

Tips to Reverse Pre-Diabetes

1. Get Moving (Even a Little Helps)

You don’t have to become a gym rat. Walking for 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week, can lower your blood sugar and boost how your body uses insulin. Hate walking? Dance, bike, swim, or chase your dog around—anything counts.

2. Cut the Sugar & Refined Carbs

We’re talking soda, candy, white bread, sugary cereal, and all that processed junk. These spike your blood sugar and mess with insulin. Instead, go for whole grains, veggies, lean protein, and healthy fats. Think: grilled chicken with brown rice and roasted veggies > fast food burger and fries.

3. Lose a Little Weight (if you need to)

You don’t need a huge transformation. Losing just 5–7% of your body weight (like 10–15 pounds for most people) can seriously improve blood sugar and insulin sensitivity.

4. Watch Portions and Snacks

Try smaller portions and less random snacking. Pay attention to hunger—not boredom or stress. Keeping a food journal (even in your phone) can help you spot habits that need tweaking.

5. Drink Water Like It’s Your Job

Water helps flush out excess sugar and keeps you full. Ditch the sugary drinks and energy drinks -they’re sneaky sugar bombs. Keep a water bottle by your side and even get a funky new one!

6. Sleep Well

Poor messes with hormones that control hunger and blood sugar. Aim for 7–9 hours a night. Easier said than done, but worth it.

7. Get Your Stress in Check

Chronic stress = higher blood sugar. Try walking, breathing exercises, journaling, or just doing stuff that calms you down (even if it’s zoning out to a favorite show) or visiting 7 Cups Hobby Zone!

Final Word

Pre-diabetes is not a life sentence - t’s a wake-up call. And if you catch it and act early, you can totally reverse it and dodge type 2 diabetes. No need for crash diets or crazy workouts just be consistent, make small changes that add up over time.
