Caregivers and Teachers Need To Be Held Accountable For Abuse Of People With Disabilites
I have a cousin with Cerebral Palsy. Her name is Maia. A couple months ago there was an incident with a teacher. At the age of 14,Maia cannot speak outside of "ma" and "da". She uses a dynavox to communicate. For those who are not familiar it is kinda like a personal computer/tablet that have preloaded settings an words that she can select and it will vocalize them for her. This teacher became upset with Maia and removed her from the classroom. She sat her in a room by herself and took her dynavox away. This. Is. Abuse. She stole this young girls "voice" and left her alone. Her parents tried and get this woman fired but the school refused to do anything. This is an awful tragedy and I hope that no one else with disabilities has to go through this.

Have you tried going to local papers or a local charity that deal with disabilities? I imagine they would soon take up the cause! Terrible thing to do to a person with disabilities, has the young lady got a social worker and have you spoken to her?
She's my cousin but on my great aunts side so I am not closely involved. I think they have tried multiple things to try to get it resolved but for the most part it's been swept under the rug. She was removed from that teachers classroom and I think that was the end of it unfortunately.

If I was in that situation as your cousin's parents, I would complain to the principal, if they don't do anything then complain to the super-intendent or other higher ups if need be. I wouldn't stop complaining until I find a proper resolution to the problem. Your cousin deserves to be treated with dignity.

That's awful
but humilations should be put to end. If a cerebral palsy kid studies in normal school,put her in special school,why what right you have to tell. Everyone enjoys right to education. A cerebral palsy kid, learns a lot if they are given encouragement,professors are good and then they can do anything with determination and dedication. Every specially abled person needs only three things :-
Encouragement +Support+Strength
and action should be taken against the school,its hard but do it
