How to get taken seriously?

My doctors don’t take me seriously despite having an Integrated Health Facility and have an extensive history of being severely abused. They don’t listen or treat me for any ailment, physical or otherwise.

How do I get them to listen?

Hey Lemonade

I'm so sorry to hear that. Sadly, I've made similar experiences in the past. I went on to other doctors until I found some good ones. But it really takes a lot of patience. If you need to get something from a certain doctor that you can't switch, it has helped me in the past to bring a friend with me.

I wish you all the best!

Hi Blue. I am so sorry you are going through this. Unfortunately, you aren't the only one. Sometimes, for me at least, it has been about going from doctor to doctor before I get one willing to listen to me. I've also had a patient advocate come into many of my appointments. I tell them what I am trying to get answered before I go into the appointment and if it gets rough and I am not being heard they advocate for me. Another thing I've done is refused to leave the office until I had a written script in my hand for the test I wanted ran 😅 In the end though it was the right call and I got diagnosed and shoved the diagnosis in my doc's face.

I do hope you are able to get your doctor's to listen. They sometimes think they know best with their degrees but they aren't the ones living through it. I hope you are able to get somewhere with the doctors!

Hi @BlueLemonade787787,

I'm sorry you are not being taken seriously by your current doctors.

I would recommend going to a different doctor to get a second opinion or going to an entirely different company if needed and getting a referral from your insurance provider to seek a different primary care provider [doctor].
