Migraine sufferers - Do you ever get melancholy before a migraine?

I couldn't figure it out yesterday, I was hit with terribly melancholy. Overwhelming sadness that just seemed oppressive and I couldn't find any coping mechanisms that would break it. I'd never noticed this a precursor to a migraine before -- but it may have possibly been.

Yesterday evening, I was hit hard and furious with an ophthamalogical migraine with pulsing aura then losing vision in one eye. Shortly followed by the intense feeling of 2x4 blows to head and the traditional "I wish I could remove my head from my shoulders, put it on the bed stand, and go to sleep" night of restless bleh. (I've not figured out a word for bleh -- it's a difficult to define feeling... so it's just bleh.)

Has any other migraineur had melancholy or emotional symptoms prior to a migraine?

Just wanting to know this isn't an empty lifeboat I'm sitting in.

Thanks in advanced.

@diplomaticconfucious

Just saw this -- I have chronic migraines (every day) so I wouldn't say that my mood is affected. I have read somewhere that mood can be an indicator of an impending migraine though!

@MonBon

Thanks for taking time to reply. It's happened a few more times... so it must be precursor to the Opthamological migraines. (hate them)

I did the daily migraine things and that totally sucks. I'm sorry you struggle with Chronic Migraine. I guess I was fortunate, turns out malnutrition was contributing to electrolytes out of balance and therefore my daily trips into misery. I used a migraine tracker app and hit over 160 days of non-stop symptoms and that allowed an open door way to conversation with the GP and the well, we need to do something about it.

A ton of vitamin and mineral supplements later -- no daily headache unless I am on a break cycle - but I rattle when I walk. :D

Thanks again for the reply.
