Did you know putting q-tips in your ears can potentailly damage your hearing?

Yes, I have heard that numerous times. I do it anyway. My mom was taught by a doctor to use q-tips to clean my ears. I tried giving it up for a while but it just created more problems. At the ENT techs stick stuff into my ears and I'm not even there for ear issues. They cause more damage to my ears doing that than anything I do. I know I get wax problems (it took a very long time for one of my ear tubes to finally come out, a doctor did it when I was about 10) but I have never had impacted wax from the cleaning I have done.

Have you ever had an audiologist remove excess wax? No, but doctors have. It didn't affect my hearing one way or another besides possibly preventing a future issue.

I am guilty of using q-tips to clean my ears, but I am doing my best to change that habit. I've never seen an audiologist to remove ear wax. If I had the money and time, I'd so try it out!
