Confronting the aging process with cerebral palsy
Hey all,
So I feel like I'm facing an interesting dichotomy in my life right now.
Despite being in the best shape of my life since my teens, I'm finding that in my 30s now, that I really feel my body on a daily basis. By that I mean I feel like how I do (or don't) take care of my body is amplified for better or worse. And all of this leads into cerebral palsy.
Being born 3 months premature, I survived that traumatic birth with a diagnosis of spastic diplegia cerebral palsy. And while the initial brain damage that results in the cerebral palsy doesn't get worse, the natural aging process has the tendency to pretty much beat the hell out of all of us, sooner or later. 😅
So yeah, it's an interesting irony having a non-progressive condition mixed with aging. I'm really not sure what I've learned except that I really do have no other choice *but* to keep taking care of my body. And while the aging process may offer an enhanced angle of mystery for me, I also have no choice but to confront it--one day at a time. :)
@sereneSunset26
thank you for sharing your experience with this condition on 7 Cups! It takes courage to open up about things and I really appreciate you for that <3 Please keep taking care of your body and doing what's best for you. you've got this!

Hi Serene! Thank you for your openness and vulnerability with this post. I can imagine that some days are worse than others, but I'm really glad to hear that you are in good shape! I'm really happy to hear that you have a good mindset about it to by just taking it one day at a time. You got this!
So I just found this thread and I can relate. I am 6 months from my 30s. It seems like a lot of body aches that never bothered me are starting to hinder me more or at least make things more complicated. It begs the question why there isn't more material available for adults with cerebral palsy rather than primarily just children. As you said the aging process comes for us all sooner or later
