How do you overcome the fear of weight gain?
Hi,
I am a 23 year old college student. I have been fighting anorexia since senior year of high school. I was bullied through eighth to twelfth grade for my weight. Kids would make snide comments of poke fun at me "jokingly". Eventually I stopped fighting it and just accepted it. I guess it's true what they say.... if you're told something enough times you'll start to believe it. I sometimes still have dreams where I relive those moments. I was roughly [edited by Anomalia to remove weight specifics]lbs back then at 5'3". Now I am [edited]lbs, give or take.
For those who also have anorexia, how do you overcome the fear of weight gain?
The thought of being higher than [edited] frightens me. I constantly struggle between working towards healthier weight and staying below [edited]lbs. I often overeat some days and then go on a detox to undo the "damage" I have done. Can anyone give me some insight/advice? Anything would be appreciated.
Thanks,

I think seeing a professional/therapist would be your best bet in overcoming your eating disorder, they can give you good advice and guide you through it. ☺ There's therapists here too you could speak with. There's a 7 day trial and then you have to pay afterwards. There's lots of options and help out there available to you.
@shatteredskies - Hi there - it can definitely be hard and scary to overcome an eating disorder, but I think you're taking the right first steps in recognizing it and reaching out. As Silent said, a professional is probably best able to support you, but sometimes it can be helpful to have other people on your team, too. If you would like to message me, I'd be happy to help!
One good starting place, I think, is to start challenging some of that fear you're having. You said you're afraid of being at a certain weight - push your ED back - what happens at that weight? What would be so terrible if you hit it? How would things be different from today if you were there?
I don't know. I personally haven't gotten over it
