I'm starting to count calories...
It's been a little over a month that I've started "dieting", but the results never showed. I've always thought of myself as fat, ever since I was in 3rd grade. Just recently, I started counting calories and doing yoga. It's helped me to lose [edited for weight specifics/triggers by forum mentor] kg in the last 2 weeks. My diets have always been around [edited] calories, but it plunged down to [edited[ calories today. I really don't know how to feel about this. There's a part of me that's proud of what I'm doing, and there's another part that's screaming out for me to get help.
Hey@straightforwardNectarine1669!
First of all, I think you have every right to be proud of yourself, both for being aware of your physical health lifestyle and for reaching out for help as soon as something has felt a bit off. And yoga is awesome! Counting calories is one of the most common weight loss methods, but itcan also veryeasily lead down a slippery slope, as you are aware. What do you think it is about keeping track of your diet in numbers that makes it appealing? I used to do the same (count the intake and usage of calories), but I realized that I was starting to rely on numbers forself-worth. Something that helped me was to start counting nutrients instead - so there was still something numerical I could hold onto, but it was something I could strive towards rather than hold back on. It sounds like you have a lot of motivation to keep healthy - I think it'd be a good idea to check in with a healthcare professional (doctor, nutritionist) to determine what the safest path for you to set and reach your goals :)
Counting calories is horrible! If I eat more than [edited for calorie specifics/triggers by forum mentor] calories a day I freak out. I need to do excersise línea crazy to feel like "I'm burning those extra calories" I always try to control everything ([edited by mentor]) I feel you. Counting calories is like a prision. The worst part is that I'm not even so skinny. :(
i have the same problem and its going a bit downhill for me. ive gone over a day without eating becausse i thought it could "save calories". also i never let myself eat food i enjoy. try not to count calories just eat healthy if you want to lose weight!! and yoga is awesome anyway!
