When are you anorexic?
Hello, I ask myself when counting calories, loosing weight, thinking you're fat starts being an eating disorder /anorexia... I count calories (almost daily) and eat - whenever I have enough discipline- about 500kcals. My friends tell me I was not fat, that I was skinny but I see all that fat and whatever I do, I feel or see this disgusting fat, all over my body. But when does it get serious? Excuse my English!
@xxslipknotxx - I can't officially diagnose because I'm not a doctor and don't know all the details of your situation, but it does sound like whether you have an eating disorder or just disordered eating, you are on a path to a really dangerous place.
Because you're reaching out here, I think you may be looking for more resources, so I would recommend reaching out to someone - a family member, a doctor, a therapist, to talk about what's going on and get the support you need to get or stay healthy.
And, if you just want to talk more, there are lots of fabulous listeners on this site who would be happy to!
Hi I'm hope and I don't really know if I have an eating disorder but I can't gain weight if I do I become severely depressed and I want to throw up when is at I want to loose weight I already lost 30 pounds in 1 week and I self harm if I do eat ...I often starve my self to be happier wit myself and I also keep track of how much calories I consume each day ......
@sparklzlover2001 - I would say a similar thing to you. I can't officially diagnose, but it sounds like you are headed down a very dangerous path, and as someone who has been there, I would strongly urge you to try to get help now, rather than later when it's out of control.
I do understand how hard it can be to feel the pressures to be thin and how painful it can feel to fight that, but I found that actually talking to people about how I was feeling allowed me to get a lot more support and ultimately be much happier with myself and my life. Do you have friends/family/teachers/doctors that you would feel comfortable opening up to about what's going on?
@xxslipknotxx and @sparklzlover2001..... @Anomalia has said it all.
Nobody here is able to offer you a diagnosis.. however it does sound like you both have struggles around food and body image that in themselves are cause for concern. Whether you fit the criteria for anorexic or not, when food begins to take over your life then you need some support.
Equally, I can relate to this personally and know how tough it can be to open up to close family and friends about it. However, if you can speak with someone- do it! Secrecy is what eating disorders thrive on, so talking about it and being honest is one of the best things you can do :)
Perhaps speaking to one of our listeners here would be a good first step? I am more than happy to talk with you if you feel you would like to.
