Can't get on top of this and no one to turn to...

I've been struggling on off with binge eating (and more occasional purging) for something like 8 years now and I really thought I'd kicked it within the last couple of years. But I've been slowly sliding back into my old habits and I think I'm having to face that I haven't at all. I've also well and truly isolated myself (in part because of this) and I don't feel I've got anyone I can turn to about this. Trying to get out of this habit just feels sort of helpless at this point. Every form of self help I try I end up running away from. But I still feel like I can't admit this to anyone, so... here I am... hello?

I don't know if I have a question or a useful topic. I'm just hoping to feel a bit less isolated.

@ZebraPlumFairy

I wish I had the answer for you, but I don't. This is a problem I've struggled with throughout my life, so at least know you're not alone.

I've just this week discovered overeaters anonymous. They hold meetings worldwide, but also have online meetings, which is where I've dipped my toes a couple of times. I'm not sure how useful it will be, but for me it's time to try anything frankly, and just hope that one day something finally lodges in my brain.

I am worth it, as are you, and we can crack it!

@ZebraPlumFairy

I have an addiction to. It currently no longer controls my life but it is always there.

So first of all understand that your goal is to try and control the behavior as much as possible and to try and limit the obseeivenrss of your thinking. Do that stopping the negative behavior is important for your health but if in times of abstinence the obsessive thiming aout food continues, the symptom has gone away but the addiction still exists.

You need support and you need to get to the core of the addictive cycle

I am willing to be your friend and to listen to you on your path to wellness hopefully.

I want to try and help
