Hi everyone. Can anyone of you please explain to me where is line between just eating too much because the food is so good that you don't feel comfortable leaving some of it on the plate (therefore you eat more calories than you need during the day) and binge eating disorder?

Hi there! As far as I'm aware, binge eating disorder includes feeling as though you cannot control how much you eat. You wouldn't conciously decided to keeping eating because you didn't want to waste food, you would simply keep eating even if there wasn't a reason to, because you feel as if you have to. There is also usually significant distress, guilt, or shame afterwards, and this binge-eating happens, on average, once a week for at least a few months. Hope this helped you to understand the difference! smiley

@klemen

Hello there, I am no expert but from what I know, binge eating disorder is characterized by "repetitive" episodes of consuming large amounts of foods. People who have a binge eating disorder feel like they're unable to control themselves when eating, and they frequently eat alone or in secret. They also frequently diet.

@klemen hi Klemen! It's called binge when you lose control during your meal... And it's completely subjective. It's not just the amount of food, you have to lose control and feel guilty about it experiencing binge eating.
