Not eating all together is not healthy. You just need to portion things. Things high in whole grain and low in carbs and fat is always wonderful. Want a piece of cake? Cool. Cut a small piece. Want some ice cream? Go for it. Use a smaller spoon to pace yourself better. You want a salad today? Do it. Put some dressing on the side and pour it in small bits. There's so many opportunities, but not eating all together is not one of them.

Please take care of yourself <3

Much Love,

This is a big issue for me . I've tried so many diets, pills, fads, anything that said i could lose weight easily. Nothing has worked. I know exercise works but I have a back injury that doesn't always allow me to move. I feel stuck in a body I don't want. I dontwant to except that I am going to be fat for the rest of my life. I don't know how to stop looking for a new diet.

It's sad, because I hate how I'm not thin. I mean, it's starting to affect my grades and everything. Everytime I try to diet, I cannot resist the sweet stufff and it's so hard. I'm fatter than many of the girls in my class and it's not funny.

Help me!

I have nightmares almost every night about how fat I look and going up on a scale only makes it worse. I dieted a lot, I physically hurt myself and managed to lose a lot of weight, but I could not maintain it and now I can only despair as I see myself getting back to my old (fat)shape.

I've been to a really nice therapist and am really looking inside myself and I found out that thin or not, the issue has never been my body. it's something really deeper than that and it really hurts assessing the darkest of you. even when I managed to become thin I was not satisfied a bit, and it was so frustrating.

I think the problem is not the body you have. I am working on self-acceptance and trying to love myself. haven't got any luck so far so I'd like to hear other stories of how people get over these sort of disorders...

@hibiscussabdariffa - I think you're absolutely on the right track. The first thing is realizing that it isn't about your body, it's about what's going on inside, and the fact that you're thinking about that and talking with your therapist about it is a huge first step. It takes time to get to the point where you're comfortable with yourself, but you can get there. For me, there was a lot of 'fake it 'til you make it'. If you practice saying nice things to yourself, finding things that make you feel awesome and doing them, and focusing on other things besides your body (e.g., I love that I have a beautiful, resonant voice when I sing, I have tremendous friends who love me at all sizes, and I'm really good at cooking), eventually it will get easier to refocus your thoughts, believe in your own worth and love yourself as you deserve to be loved.

Remember - you are worth far more than the value you place on yourself and you should fight to feel that way yourself.

@Bstarns1 - I've struggled with this type of thing, too. It's hard when something that used to be so simple and part of your day becomes such a chore and you can't motivate yourself to do it or are no longer able to do it at the level you used to. What helps me is setting smaller goals. If you haven't been working out lately, a full hour is a lot to dive right into. What if instead you set a goal to do something physical for 20 minutes one day this week. Then maybe 30 minutes next week or two days next week. And build slowly with realistic goals until you reach your ultimate goal. You can do this!
