Welcome to Check-ins!
This is your space to share how your week has gone, is going, or you'd like it to go. It's your space to share anything you'd like to check-in with.

The questions below are strictly for prompts, and you do not need to respond to them if you do not want to.
What would you like to share about your week and how you are doing?
Do you have any plans or goals that you'd like to share or accomplish this week?
How's recovery going this week?
How do you feel in general?

@KristenHR
My week was kind of bad, I had a self harm relapse and I was just really stressed out this week, and during the week I mostly limited my food intake so recovery is not going so well this week.
@enlightenedDew4105
I'm glad you've checked in. I'm sorry this week has been tough. I hope you will find this next week is better for you. Is there anything we could do to support you this week to help you through?
I know it can be disappointing when recovery isn't going so well, but I want to encourage you because you reached out and you are aware that you are struggling and you are sharing. That is a positive step. Please keep posting, and share as you need and want to. I'm so glad you are here.
@KristenHR
What would you like to share about your week and how you are doing?
Not much to share. I'm trying to get back on my feet after being dead tired for about two to three weeks. I'm back with my walking, which is great (or I have been walking all the time, but I'm walking MORE now), and I am eating pretty well again. Not much to say really.
Do you have any plans or goals that you'd like to share or accomplish this week?
Mostly getting back to walking more. I wanna walk and walk. Preferably 50 km a week if I can.
How's recovery going this week?
Well, I'm eating so that's something.
How do you feel in general?
I feel pretty good. Looking forward to dog training tomorrow, which is always great. It's so much fun, though a little stressful, haha.
Anyways, I am looking forward to the ppl I am seeing this week, and I am looking forward to walk in rain before I go to bed.
@TheMadHatterWasHere
Even though you didn't have a lot to share what you shared sounded pretty good. You are eating, walking and looking forward to seeing some people this week. That all sounds good.
Thanks for sharing that. It's good to hear you here in the check-in. Keep posting! Glad to have you here.
@KristenHR I was able to final get the hair cut I have been wanting for months but it’s not the best now I have to go to school with it 😞. But it’ll grow out and looks good eventually
@GwydionRowan
It's exciting to get a haircut! So glad you were able to get yours. Funny thing, I don't know if you've noticed it, but I rarely like a new haircut or perm the first week. I need to "grow" into it for a bit before I really like it. Even when I really want it.
I'll be excited to hear when it's at the stage that you love it! Thanks for sharing and checking in.
@KristenHR everyone has been saying it looks cool some people are going on about how masculine it is which makes me really happen I still wanna see what it will be like grown out cuz to me still doesn’t look the best but I do now feel better about it
This is my first time I’ve ever posted in a public thread like this but im really struggling right now and I feel so alone 😢
@MandaMoo216
I'm so glad that you posted. I'm sorry you're struggling. I hope that you will keep posting. This is a non-judgmental space. Thanks for checking in and sharing.
Thank you so much 🙏
@MandaMoo216
you are not alone here. Reach out and people will respond. The sharing circle in chat is a good place for support
Thank you 🙏
@KristenHR
Recovery for week...I'm adding on different food (proteins) to what I normally eat...fruit, veg, crax. I'm freaking out some. Positive I just found eating disorder meetings online for every day of week.
@jrk27
This is great news! I'm glad you found the online meetings for every day of the week.
What helps you when you are struggling to introduce a new food or to change a behavior?
I know this is raising the fear factor, but I also know that you can do it. It's a great goal. One step at a time, one meal at a time. You aren't alone. Keep sharing with us and check in as you need to! Let us know how it's going.
My week has been pretty bad. I haven't sensed hunger cues for years and I constantly think about food eventhough I ate. I crave sugar. I'm mostly struggling with body changes. I tried my prom dress a couple weeks ago and it doesn't fit anymore. The scale told me the highest number I've ever seen. I don't exercise that much so I know it's not muscle. My mom also struggle with her eating habits and she's obese. I've been scared for almost a decade to end up like her. How do I keep being "healthy" without becoming obsessive?
@sweetpotato300
Thanks for checking in. Your concerns and fears are understandable and the struggle is real. With eating disorders there is a high focus on food, but the underlying issue typically isn't about food.
Do you have a counselor that can help you address your concerns?
I don't know what would work for you, but in my personal experience, I've found that eating slowly and putting balance in my life and eating, it has helped, though it didn't always take the focus off of food. Over time, it did get to a point where food wasn't the focus but rather what food was helping me cope with.
A question that I've found really helpful when I was wanting to eat, when I had already had a meal was, "What do I really need right now?"
Please keep posting. What you are going through is difficult and we'd love to support you through it.
So, I struggle with emotiona eating, when I'm bored, alone, lonely, upset, sad, unhappy, I eat. On the outside I have what people probably see as a perfect life, great job, family, kids, we are relatively well off, a nice house but life so often feels empty.
I'm tied to earning a certain income, I live in a house which isn't where I want it to be, I feel like my purpose is to provide for my family without really having much say in the big decisions in that life.
My kids are young and I need to be home to support them, my dad was never around due to working shifts and I think there's a huge impact there.
Really I have nothing to complain about yet somehow I feel a failure. I don't have real problems.
I'm trusting some recipes to try and get into better eating habits, I'm feeling positive that I can make a change, I'm going in the right direction but I always stumble
I feel lost, unloved
@sunnyApricot1563
First, welcome and thank you for checking in. I'm sorry that you feel lost and unloved. Those are very difficult feelings.
Just because you have your basic needs met, doesn't mean that you might be lacking in other ways. Including emotional, social, physical or mental needs that are there that aren't being filled. You are not alone having basic needs met yet feeling like you aren't happy or like you are a failure.
You mention that you have younger children. I'm wondering if you have much adult conversation during the week. I bring that up because I've spoken with many parents who stay home with their young children and they are lacking that adult contact and sometimes even with others around them, are feeling lonely. Sometimes unfulfilled because being a full-time parent can be very draining, thankless job. You love your children, but it's also a very difficult role in your life.
As far as food, it's a comfort for many people for many emotions. You are not alone, and many of us have experienced very similar situations of using food to help deal with emotions and other issues. Please keep posting.
Remember, you are worth the investment that you make in yourself.
