Eating Disorder Check-ins **Week of Sept 25th**

As far has set in, the leaves will be changing and the beautiful colors will begin to show their faces in the trees. It's a new season, a time for new growth.
As we check-in this week, I would ask you a couple questions.
How are you this week?
What would you like to see this fall happen to move you forward in your recovery?
I look forward to your check-in!
@KristenHR
I stumbled upon this particular thread among many on eating disorder check-ins, and I want to express my gratitude for your commitment to posting this thread each week. It provides an important platform for an individual with eating disorders to monitor their eating habits and seek support.
While i don't have an eating disorder myself, I've noticed that I've been consuming a lot of fast food lately. I recognize the importance of controlling my eating habits before they become a problem, so I'm going to take steps to improve my choices and make healthier decisions. Your thread has inspired me to be more mindfulness about my diet, and I appreciate the positive impact it has had on my awareness.
@KristenHR
How are you this week?
Have honestly been feeling like *** on Monday, but it turned to the better by Tuesday night, so I'm not one to complain. I have had some problems with my servicedog in training after he got neutralization (chemically thank God, he will be back to "normal" in about 4 months), as he has been barking at seemingly nothing and been very hard to make focus (he is looking at everything, scanning everything and can't focus when we are out).
My trainer says that they can be "seeing" ghosts after a neu, and that I should just keep training with him, and try to ignore the barking and divert him to something more productive. I'm really looking forward to him being back to normal, bc he has been like that for a month now. But he is getting a little better, I guess.
Otherwise I'm ok. I made pumpkin and potato soup today, and I'm almost excited about tasting it tonight. Which is kinda big for me, as I hate cooking, bc I don't want to put calories into my body. I am thinking of seeing a therapist again, so I can conquer my nightly eating, but that depends on whether or not my parents will pay for it, as I do not have the money for it right now :(
What would you like to see this fall happen to move you forward in your recovery?
I would like to be able to see a therapist again. Preferably someone else than the one I saw barely a year ago. Mostly bc I have gained a lot since then, and I don't want her to see that, not bc she is not good.

I'm sorry for being late to checking in. It sounds like it's been a rough one with your training on your service dog but hopeful that there will be changes with some time.
Night eating can be challenging for many people. It's a time when life tends to slow down, for some, it's a time when trauma happened and it tends to have a lot of emotions running about. Night time can also be when it is difficult to be alone and food provides comfort.
What thoughts do you have about night eating? Have you been able to identify how night eating is impacting you of what impacts your night eating?
I do hope your parents will pay for a counselor. Have you thought about joining a support group?
@KristenHR Hey :)
I have thought a lot about the nightly eating. I think it probably began with me not getting enough calories, and then turned into some kind of self-soothing from my nightmares and anxiety.
I'm so tired of eating at night, but I can't seem to find rest, if I don't do it. Then I should just as well get up in the middle of the night and just stay up, bc my mind and voices (I have schizophrenia too) tells me that I won't be able to sleep without eating something. And getting up at 1 AM in the morning and not going to bed before the next night doesn't seem like a good idea :S
I do hope they can do that too.
In this country you can't get into a support group unless you are in the psychiatric system for your eating disorder. And I cannot get into the system bc I have schizophrenia (their words), even if I'm not psychotic. It's sadly just how the system works, and I can sadly not do anything about this. If I could join a support group I would, trust me :(

There actually are some professionals that have said that there is a need to have a light snack before bed because it helps to sleep better so people don't wake up famished in the middle of the night. So perhaps you are one of those individuals who does need to eat a little before bed biologically.
There are several online support groups that are available for eating disorders, which aren't set up through specific agencies that require a referral through a therapist or physician. Of course, you have to see if they are a good fit for you. NEDA has a great list of support groups available. There are several listings online. They are listed by states in the US, but you can actually just pick the first state and you'll see all the listings are online or worldwide listings.
For those in the US, some states do have in-person meetings in their states.
