Is this an eating disorder?

I posted this in the general section a bit ago but wasn’t sure if here would be better. I've noticed I have a habit where if I'm making food, eating, or being given food – literally any instance where I'm in the presence of food I plan to eat – and someone else shows that they're annoyed with me or I get in an argument with someone, I automatically convince myself I don't deserve to eat that food and will go several hours or the rest of the day either without eating or with only small amounts of food eaten in private. This more specifically happens when the arguments are between my mom and I and it's happened a handful of times this year, but I don't know much about the complexities of eating disorders to know if that's what I'm dealing with or if it's something else.

@Fynn016

It certainly doesn't sound like a healthy view of eating and food. I recommend chatting with your doctor if you're feeling concerned about your eating patterns.

You deserve to eat, unconditionally. If your emotions are getting in the way of nourishing yourself then it might make sense to talk to someone about it. Sending love and warmth. <3
