Needing a little help
Hi friends, I'm not totally sure where to post this so I'm going to put it here. For the last 4 years I've struggled with body image, on and off avoiding meals, heavy excercise, and things like that. I've been able to overcome kind of this fear of food but recently it's felt crippling. The last 6 weeks have been really tough. There's so much anxiety behind eating and in turn it's made me fearful to gain weight. It started as being too anxious due to school to eat but then the need to keep it this way and more has been overwhelming. I've always had a thing with associating things in broad categories of "clean" and "dirty" so lately this obsessive behavior has included food and body image. Meals have gotten progressively more difficult and I don't know what to do or think. I've begun to fall back into what I was dealing with a few years ago and it feels like I'm locked in. There's no desire to change, even though I know I have to. I'm trying to find a therapist for anxiety and depression at the moment, but I'm not sure how to tell my parents I'm concerned this is turning into an eating disorder. Ahh, I really don't know what to do☹️
@Runningandsuch I'm understanding that you are having issues with accepting the way you look. If you would like while you're trying to get a therapist I will be more than willing to help you with your depression and anxiety just getting a message and I will be glad to talk with you. :-) We all have desires on how we should look, but the most important thing is not letting our bodies suffer. I do understand that it is easier said than done :-). As for telling your parents that is up to you depending on their family structure. Please feel free to get a hold of me. I don't struggle with eating, but I do struggle with the fact that I am physically disabled. Therefore I know about body image.
It sounds like you definitely need to do some preventative work so that this doesn't progress any further. I urge you to find a counseling center or anything of the like that has eating disorder support groups or specialized therapists. You deserve to be healthy and not struggle this way. Please take care of yourself in how you need to... getting to the place where I am truly sucks and is terrifying. So so so much love for you ❤️❤️❤️
