Why is Binge Eating Disorder Never Talked About?

I feel so alone in this community because of this disorder and because I am a man. Everyone who has an eating disorder and actually speaks out about it is either anorexic or bulimic, and I just feel so alone because I'm the odd one out. I just feel so ashamed after I binge and I know this is sosmething im going through and something other people are probably going through as well. Idk I guess I just came here for some validation because I feel that I'm not good enough.

@SakoombaKero What do you mean just be a man and stop binge eating? That is the same difference in telling an Anorexic person to be a man and just eat. What do you not understand in the word Binge Eating Disorder.

@ghosttiger100 Sorry if I sounded rude in this post. I was just a little angry at this person because this is the first time I have opened up abot my ED and I expecting slightly more positive feedback.

P.S- Thanks to the person who removed the post. I dont want it to affect anybody else.

@ghosttiger100 - Hey there! I am glad that you did reach out because I think you're right that a lot of people struggle with binge eating, but many don't open up about it and it can make it feel really lonely. BED is very much a real eating disorder and something that deserves support every bit as much as other ones.

The support group that I used to go to included people with the full spectrum of eating disorders and what I found is that even if the behaviors were different for each person, the underlying stuff was pretty similar for all of us and we could generally all relate to what the others were feeling. Have you ever explored support groups in your area? I know they aren't available everywhere, and some people find them helpful while others don't, but it might be one option (in addition to 7 Cups!) to find some extra support and others who are struggling with the same thing.

And if you ever need someone to talk to, or even just a place to vent, you are always welcome to message me. Take care!
