Looking for support after dieting / maintaining, issues with coach

Hi! I lost a lot of weight- my apologies if that triggers anyone.

I’m trying to keep it off and I am working with an emotional eating coach on the behaviors surrounding eating and food. I like him a lot and he’s helping me but he recently shared part of my check in without asking me online / copy/ paste and I have felt triggered. We’re trying to work past it and I like him a lot but some trust has been shaken and he’s also not online a lot so at times I feel let down.

I’m debating trying to find a therapist or a different coach but I feel comfortable with him and like him, but I’m not getting the support that I need.

I have been struggling with some restricting thoughts after overeating.

Many thanks

@AmyGraceAAB

It is hard to rebuild trust. if he shared something was it in a way you were identified or in a way he was using part of your story as an example without your name etc?   Someone once shared a bit of my experience i was angry but in end it was to help another and i saw that.

A therapist or counselor / coach is hard to fins someone you like and also trust   depending on what they shared can you work past this?

Thank you. He copied and pasted part of my check in without using my name onto an *** story to highlight client wins. He did this with other clients too but I think there was a misunderstanding because I thought I selected a box on a form asking him to check with me first and he thought that I said I said it was okay to do. It was a misunderstanding. Either way, I feel like trust has been betrayed and I am trying to work past it, but at times it’s very challenging because other coaches have betrayed my trust also. We had a good conversation and he apologized but I just feel some hesitation there and it’s sad because I really like him a lot and he helps me. I thought we had a good relationship but he’s not online much and it leaves me at times to feel without support, lonely, depressed or being too much and then I realize I am leaning on him too much.

I’m honestly struggling a lot. I was recently injured in a car accident and at times I am in a tremendous amount of pain.

I have been struggling with depression and overeating but also restricting.

I also am an emotional eater and it is a real struggle. I am glad you found someone to help. I have not had that i have to find things to keep busy so i will not snack etc.

I think he did not mean to hurt your trust a simple misunderstanding. I often think forms where you click yes or no people do not always recheck before making a choice to use content.  despite the miscommunication on post i hope your bit of story helped someone the it would be worth it

Thank you. I’m sorry that you also struggle with emotional eating. It can be challenging. I think he is helpful and I like him a lot.

Emotional eating can be very challenging for me, what do you struggle with the most? Some of the things that he and I are talking about are thinking about what I want in the moment vs what I want long term, and using some coping skills like listening to music, reading, etc because I eat when stressed or bored.

@AmyGraceAAB

boredom is a big trigger and being angry or upset with partner.  it is almost like if eating i will not say something i may regret.   i lost weight then emotional eating started again started to gain and then tried to restrict instead of dealing with WHY i was mindlessly eating.
