Eating Disorder Community - How do you actually feel today?
I'm allowing myself to eat when I'm hungry. Especially since I need food at the moment.
@JustATadTooGone - that's fantastic! Relearning intuitive eating (eating when you're hungry, stopping when you're full) can be hard, and I love to hear that you're doing it! Keep up the great work!
you do need food, and it's good you are giving yourself what you well deserve
I didn' t eat today, I'm feeling thin again
@SunriseGirl327 - I know how addictive that feeling can be, but I also know how dangerous not eating is. I hope that you have someone you can talk to about why you feel this need. Take care
this is a very dangerous and damaging habit. realize that no matter what you look like on the outside, as long as you are healthy, you are perfection. perfection is not thin or thick. perfection is in the heart and soul, perfection is feeling good. and I don't think anyone would feel good after not eating overtime. please try and start eating, even if its starting out in small bits. every bite counts toward recovery. if you have troubles please see a doctor
Before I recovered, I used to struggle with anorexia. Ever since I relapsed, I feel like I'm experiencing more bulimic behaviours than anorexic ones and it's killing me. It would be so much easier if I could just. stop. eating. everything.
@WhisperingFae - it's really common for eating disorders to morph in their symptoms. Mine started with restricting, shifted to purging, later to binging, and at times cycled back to previous points. And as much as it can feel like one is easier or better than the other, they all have their own dangers. I hope you're getting the help and support you need to get back on track with your recovery. You've done it before, and I know you can do it again.
I completely relate to this. It's like I get in this weird state of mind where NOTHING matters but food and I need it and I need a lot of it until I can barely move. Purging it makes me feel thin again and I like it
I think I might be relapsing a bit. And I don't know if I want to stop it.
@JustATadTooGone - I responded in another thread as well, but I just wanted to say that I think acknowledging the potential to relapse is a really important first step. A good next one is to reach out for some support and to remind yourself of all of the reasons that recovery benefits you. What are the things you can do in recovery that you can't with your eating disorder?
I just feel kind of... blank. I know I should strive to recover, but I simply can't find motivation.
@purrkittenpurr - it can definitely be a challenge to find (and keep) that motivation. What helped me a lot was to make a list of all the things I wanted that I couldn't have without recovery and posting that list somewhere where I could see it every day. This can be anything - shiny, rich, hair; a body that can handle dancing without passing out; ability to go to dinner with friends without being overwhelmed; relationship with someone that you have lost because of the ED; etc. The reasons will be different for each person, but reminding yourself of all the great things recovery can give you can help a lot with wanting to do it. Take care
I feel so heavy and full and everything is too much to handle right now.
@UnderTheSilverMoon - I can relate so well to that feeling and it really sucks, but you can get through it. The feeling will pass. Try to find a distraction until it does, or read some affirmations to remind yourself why you want this and that you can do it. Talk to someone who can offer support. You can and will get through this.
Binged and feel really fat
@BreatheMe17 - That feeling is tough, especially after a binge, but I think it's important to forgive yourself and then move forward, without looking back. It happened, but now you can move on to a new day and a new opportunity. Take care
I feel really fat and bloated. And we are about to have hamburgers. :/
everything will be ok. food is good for you (:
@Ezzie - sorry to hear yesterday was a tough one for you, but I'm sure you got through it like a champion. Just keep reminding yourself of the things that food powers your body to do, rather than calories, etc. You can get through each day and eat healthily, just take it one small step at a time. Take care
Restricting for the first time in a year. I forgot how much I love it.
@tallBlackberry3781 - it's hard to remember the addictive power of it and not get sucked in, but try to equally remember the reasons you stopped restricting before and all the good parts of recovery. The thrill of restricting can be strong, but it isn't as strong as the freedom of recovery. And if you need some extra support, please reach out. Take care
I just ate some biscuits I don't know why I did it but I feel guilty and I don't think I'll eat anything else today
@Malina30 - I know it doesn't necessarily feel like it, but it's ok to have a little treat every now and then and it won't dramatically change your body. It's also important to make sure that you are getting all the nutrients your body needs, and that won't come just from biscuits. It's hard to want to eat more when you're feeling guilty, but try to forgive yourself and then nourish your body with the food that it needs. Take care
