Hi! I am Stacy. I eat and eat and eat. Binge eater, probably. I eat to feel better and then eat some more. I don't want to be like the people on the show "My 600 - lb Life." I am diabetic and the food I eat is mostly chocolate. I am addicted to it. No doubt.

@stacy46 - Welcome - I'm glad you're here and reaching out. Sometimes just opening up can be the hardest step, but you've done it! I think the next step is to start thinking about what fuels the eating disorder - what need is it filling in your life? Are there other things that could fill that same need?

@pioneeringDrum5640 - Hi Amber, I'm glad you're here! I think it's really important that you've recognized that the other community was leading you back down a path you had spent so long trying to get out of. Do you feel like you're able to break away from that harmful influence and refocus on your recovery?

Hi I'm Writer. I have Selective Eating Disorder, one of the lesser known eating disorders. SED is an eating disorder that prevents the consumption of certain foods. It's often viewed as picky eating (the thing children have and then grow out of) I didn't know I had SED for a long time because I just thought I was a picky eater. I realized that soon I was eating the same food every day and never tried anything new because I was afraid to, grossed out by fruits and vegetables... and seafood. I have little amount of foods I'll eat and if at some point I don't have an option of my "safe food" I won't eat anything even if I'm starving. I'm almost out of high school. I can't really eat with friends and when I do it's awkward...a lot. I realized it's more than "just picky eating" a while ago.

@warmheartedCity8277 - Hi Writer, and welcome! It's tough when you're struggling with something that so few people understand, but I think being able to recognize what it is is a big first step towards being able to work through it. What steps are you taking to try to move forward and be able to slowly introduce more flexibility into your diet?

Hi I'm tori and I'm currently in recovery with an eating disorder. It started to turn around when I started getting help at the hospital and I read the book Life Without Ed. It was really hard because I never really knew what was wrong with me and trying to explain my thoughts to friends and family was so hard because I had no idea. When my dad came to the conclusion I might have an eating disorder that's when I started getting help.

At first I was just doing it because I was sick of feeling this way but deep down I still was scared to gain weight and just felt like I really could gain weight or fix anything.

Now im more ok with things. I've started eating more and I'm definitely happier then I was two months ago but I'm still going through tough times.

Looking at my body in the mirror really messes me up because I don't see my belly as skinny at all. It's really annoying looking at my belly and seeing so much fat and having people tell you your skinny.

I really want to find a support group to talk to and a solid therapist to talk to as well. In this process of recovery I've lost contact with my two best friends and we're closer now but while I was at my worst and going down I barely talked to him and my only friend was my sister really. My sister is moving away in May and I'm worried about what I'm going to do because she's my major support.

Hello to all!

I am Natalia and I'm a rather new listener in here. I have suffered from anorexia nervosa (restrictive type) for a very long time, and have been officially diagnosed for 8 years. I can always offer a compassionate listening ear to those who are suffering because I've been at every step of the way, from maintaining to forced recovery and ip.

If anyone needs to talk, feel free to drop a message. I don't have the answers, but I will do my best to listen.

Stay safe :)

Hey I'm Sierra. I've been struggling with Anabulimia, anxiety, depression, OCD, and trichatellamania for 8 years. I spent 7 months in treatment last year and I'm coping fairly decently and have been on my feet for about 10 months. So yeah that me.

@crispSalamander95 - Hi Sierra, and welcome! I'm really glad to hear that you've been coping a bit better recently - what do you think has been the most helpful thing in your recovery so far?

@Anomalia

The thing that's helped me the most are the friendships I made in treatment. Even though we live really far away we always try to check in and support each other.

Hi! I would like to keep my name anonymous. I fall victim of binge eating. Growing up as a child, we ate moderately healthy. My mom would buy desserts ONLY for our school lunches. She would hide these desserts around the house so no one could eat them for any other meal besides our school lunches. Therefore, when I found these "goodies," I would binge. Almost like I would never be able to eat them ever again. Currently, I find myself eating two dinners or HEAVY snacks. Growing up my mom would always make comments about how much I ate or what I ate. Therefore, I continuously found myself eating in private. Additionally, I LOVE to cook. I have a food blog; its a passion for me. But I find myself overeating as I cook AND THEN sitting down and eating MORE. I am SO ashamed of myself, I don't think I could talk to a professional face-to-face about these problems. In the last 4 years, I've gained over 80 pounds. Someone help me.

Hello, you can call me night owl. I'm here because I'm worried about my eating habits. I have been starving myself for about a month. This is not the first time I have been doing this -- about 4 years ago I lost almost 20 pounds from not eating. I find myself in a very similar situation yet again. I'm not sure what to do with myself or how to exactly solve this issue. Every time I eat something, I become mildly depressed immediately after, which just encourages me to starve myself later. I hope to some day find answers and ways to help myself, but right now I am here hoping for some support.

@smallnightowl please remember, that EDs are slippery slopes. You are more than this and you do not need this
