Introduce yourself to the 7 Cups Eating Disorder Community!
Hey, I know that I already introduced myself to the eating disorder community but I wanted to add more. So my name is Ash, I am 19. I am a forum supporter for the eating disorder community. I love to help others out and I have had past experince with eating disorders. As for everyone and every mental illness, I have my good days and my bad days but even on my bad days coming to this community makes me so happy. I love seeing all the support and the beautiful things that happen over on here! My goal hasn't changed I still want to be a LCSW and work with teens and young adults. I just want someone to read this or any of my other forum post and either put a smile on their face or show them that they are not alone. We all have been through our stuggles and we care for each other, thats what a community is! I want you, the person who is reading this that may be struggling, to know that you are not alone and that recovery is possible! It takes time and there may be some steps back but you will get through this, recovery doesn't happen overnight but if you work hard and try hard enough I know you will get through this!
Hi,
I'm back after being gone a long time but never found this group and am so glad that I did. I have a very unhealthy relationship with food and tend to hide myself away when I want to eat bad amouns of food. I beat myself up because I can't stop and really want to in order to be healthy, look healthy and feel healthy mentally around food.
Looking for support and someone whom understands. Sometimes I feel so alone in this. No one else around me suffers from this.
@bloodmoon80 Never feel alone! You have made the first step to seeking help and in turn gaining your confidence in food back. Would love to be of any assistance- feel free to message me for strategies :D
Hi I'm Andrea
My therapist suggested that I make an account on here to join an eating disorder support group as my college doesn't have a physical one.
@ArtStudent221 - I'm sorry you didn't get a response here, but I think it's a great idea to look for online support when the in person options just aren't there. How have you been doing the last month and a half? How can we help support you better?
I'm Kendall, and I'm bulimic. Recently my relapse has gotten bad. I can't afford to get help again. I'm grasping onto anything for support. I'm struggling a lot right now. Thank you guys for being here.
@Kentx - Hi Kendall, I'm really proud of you for reaching out - I know that's not always easy, but it is a really important first step. if you ever needto talk or could use some extra support, don't hesitate to reach out to me. Sending you hope and strength!
Hello everyone. I am an adult in my 30's and about 4 years ago I had a lot of things come at me all at once and emotionally it caused me to become very depressed. I quickly turned myself off from the outside world. I did still manage to do the things I had to do on a daily basis but I was never the same. Shortly after that, I really for no reason began to restrict my eating and I started taking diet pills along with it. Being I was so depressed I never felt hungry so not eating was easy to do. It's now been years and I finally started to see some light again. I was realizing that I had a problem. Everyone around me all they see is that I lost some weight and I needed that so how can that be bad, right? no one saw the truth behind it. Well no one except my therapist, she knew even when I denied, she knew and she helped me see the truth. I slowly got to a point where I was eating again, I was in a good point of recovery and then life hit again about 3 months ago and here I am just trying to figure out how to do this again. How to fight. Feeling self hate and shame.
Hi my name is amber and I'm 27. My eating disorder first started when I was 12 years old. One fun event after more fun events in my life it just kept seeming that life just couldn't get better. However it did. I have now been "better" for the past four years. I am checking out 7 cups because it was recommended after I research something on Tumblr. For the past couple of days I have had extremely strong urges to relapse.
@Salvogirl - Hey there - I'm glad that you came to check this out. I know that even in recovery, sometimes those urges can be strong and finding a supportive place to talk about them can make a big difference. How have you been doing since you posted this? Are you feeling a little stronger in recovery, or could you use a little extra support right now? You're more than welcome to reach out to me anytime if you need to :)
hello
5 years ago i went into hospital because my weight dropped to a level my parents thought I was going to die.
i am only 21, and today i weigh less.
i'm sick and i need help.
and that's the first time i've ever said that
@euphonic - I'm incredibly proud of you for saying it. Admitting you need help is an enormous step and not an easy one to take! And this community is here to help any way that we can. Do you think it would be helpful to talk through what's going on? You're more than welcome to message me if you want to.
I'm sending hope, strength, and peace your way, along with a giant *hug*
Hi there!
My name is Hysterria and I have a history of binge eating and bulimia. As I work towards my journey of recovery, I've learned so much about myself, the good and the bad. I've had signs of disordered eating as young as five years old and having nieces that age, it breaks my heart. I was doing really good for about a year and then with family problems and the stress of school, I relapsed.
I have really good days and I still have really bad days. I wouldn't say I'm recovered yet but I continously remind myself, "one second at a time, one minute at a time, one day at a time". I'm currently working on a degree in psychology to become a therapist for those with disordered eating. I'm so thankful for online communities like this. It's so nice to have people who TRULY understand the daily struggles we face. I'm honoured to be here!
@Hysterria - I'm so proud of you, not only for your recovery journey so far, but for your perspective on it - continuing to take it one minute at a time and continuing to fight for your health and happiness! You have made so much progress and I know you're going to continue to! And if you ever need some extra support, don't hesitate to reach out <3
Hi. I have binge eating disorder. I eat to the point of being sick. I have gained so much weight that my health is deteriorating. I joined 7 cups for help and support and encouragement.
@simonandsally - I'm really glad you're here! It's not always easy to find support in real life, but having someone to talk to who can understand a bit of what you're going through can make a huge difference! You're always welcome to reach out to me if you could use some extra encouragement, or even just a place to vent frustrations :)
Hello My name is Samantha,
I'm 16 & have struggled with an eating disorder for about a year now. I'm striving to get better. I cope with it different ways such as taking walks, music, or the gym but sometimes I don't have the strength to fight the urge. I'm hoping I can find someone who is willing to overcome this battle and we could help each other. I really believe that talking about this makes it become more of a reality and is the first step to recovery. (:
