Introduce yourself to the 7 Cups Eating Disorder Community!
I feel inspired again...that maybe others can help me figure out what i am doing...why am i binging again ? Why am i out of control again...i am sooo grateful i found this site !! Im excited to improve myself !
I'm excited for you! Thrilled to hear that you're moving forward and hope that you keep reaching out for support. :)
Hello, I have been struggling with binge eating for awhile. I don't know if that's considered an eating disorder but I don't really like to label my self either... I can't control what I eat, I don't know when I'm full, food is all I think about, it controls me. I've realized I need help.
Binge eating can absolutely be an eating disorder, and whether or not it is for you, it certainly sounds like you're struggling with some eating related things that you could use support on. Recognizing it's an issue for you is a huge first step to getting through it, as is being honest with yourself and others and opening up. You can do this!
My name is Abbey and I'm 17 years old. I hate everything about myself. I'm so fat and I hate it, I can't tell anyone I have a problem because how can you have an eating disorder like anorexia or bulimia if you're fat. My mom is overweight like really bad, like 300 pounds and I guess that's where it all started. Then I got made fun of in middle school and when I got to high school I started starving myself. Now I'm on ADD pills that make me sometimesnot hungry and I abuse them because I want to not feel hunger.
I'm sorry you're feeling so much pain. It can definitely be hard to open up about problems when you feel that you don't fit some model of how they are supposed to be, but I will tell you that weight has very little to do with eating disorders. No matter what size you are, you can be doing a lot of damage to your body, and I would strongly encourage you to reach out to someone and start getting help. You deserve to be happy and to feel good about yourself.
Hello everyone. I'm not quite sure if I had an eating disorder but I generally just feel no energy to do anything. Eating is supposed to be an easy thing for you, I would believe. But I find myself contemplating about it more than a few times. Like right now, I don't know whether I should have lunch, when my stomach is obviously hungry and I only had a smoothie. I don't know what to do, really, about these things. Can anybody help? Like how does one commit to doing things you are supposed to do?
Hi @courteousjet3127
Welcome to 7 cups and to this forum. Like you said, eating is supposed to be an easy thing, but for a lot of people, myself included, it isn't always. You are not alone in this, and I think reaching out for support is a great first step. It might help to start by trying to figure out when it's hard to get yourself to eat and when it's easier and see if you can find anything in common that might help you out. Or, you could try making a list of the reasons why you think you should eat and what you can do if you do. Feel free to reach out to me or to any other listener if you want to talk through it. Take care!
Hey there, amigos~ I'm Audrey and I'm turning 15 tomorrow, zomg. =^-^= I developed an eating disorder once I was around 12. I was a little bit overweight back then, so I counted calories to loose weight, but after I got down into the healthy range, I couldn't stop. At first, I ate a fairly large amount and was still losing weight, but then that wasgradually lowered to 1,200, and now I eat about 1,000 cals in addition toexercisingoff 600 of thosecaloriesper day, often skipping meals and eating evenless if I can sneak past my parents or friends at school. I've tried making myself throw up, but I don't have a gag reflex, so I gave that up quickly. I have a long list of forbidden foods and pinch myself if I have really strong cravings for them until I can remove my mind from them, because if I eat them, I freak out and feel like I'm going to suffocate. I can't even look in the mirror without sucking in, I feel so fat constantly. People are starting to catch on and not buy my excuses, which is pretty scary.
@xXAudreyXx - It can definitely be really scary when you feel like people are starting to figure out something you've tried to hide for so long, but maybe having someone find out could help you in the long run. Do you think it would be helpful to be able to talk to someone about everything going on and get some support? It sounds like you're pretty far down a dangerous path already, and I hope that you can find your way back. I can only listen to adults, but if you need support here, there are tons of fantastic teen listeners who can chat with you. Take care!
Hi. I'm 21 and I've been suffering from bulimia for the last 2 years. It's a terrible journey that makes me question myself time and again, and I can't stop feeling entirely helpless to my addiction to binging and purging. It's getting out of hand. I'm scared to tell my parents that I've failed this way. I know it seems silly and narrow sighted, but I really would like to get this over with as discreetly as possible, and without worrying or upsetting my parents. Bulimia is a worthy adversary and it scares me. I would really like some help from someone who's gone through something like this. Thank you :)
@recovery93 - welcome to 7 cups of tea - I'm so glad you found it and hope that it will be helpful to you. I've been where you are now and know the terrifying helplessness that comes when you realize it's no longer in your control. It's understandable to not want to worry your parents, though there's a chance that by worrying them and opening up, you might be able to get some needed support. Either way, if you want to chat at all with someone who has been there, feel free to reach out and we can set up some time. Wanting to recover is the first and most important step, and you can do this. <3
I'm 21, and I have an ENDOS. As I have mentioned previously, I have all traits of anorexia but I'm not underweight. I've been like this for just under two years. I go through periods of recovery, where I am not as bad... and then periods like I am going through now, where I restrict my diet in extreme ways for weeks on end.
I am seeking professional psychological help, but to be honest, I don't want it right now.
It's really hard to want it 100% of the time - I think that's the biggest struggle in recovery. But I'm glad you're getting some professional help right now. Wanting to recover will ebb and flow, but the things you learn in therapy can help regardless. Good luck!
Thank you. :) I know I logcally need help but I also just want to be left alone... but I don't want to struggle alone. I don't want to get to the point where I pass out in the shower and ny housemate finds me and has to call an ambulance. I am lightheaded in the shower a lot lately. I hope the Psychologist can help.
Hi I'm Tamara, I'm 16 and I'm anorexic and bulimic. It started in middle school people would bully me saying I'm not skinny enough at first I didn't listen to them but when I looked in the mirror I saw everything I didn't want to see I noticed my stomach was bigger than my sisters, my thighs were jigglier so I started starving myself and when I did eat I threw it back up, now I'm slowly getting better and I'm happy about it
I'm so sorry to hear you've been bullied - that's incredibly hard to deal with and you didn't deserve it. I'm concerned about you, because even though in the short term restricting and purging can make you feel better, it can get out of control pretty quickly. There are a lot of fantastic teen listeners on this website that you can reach out to if you want some additional support. Take care
Hi everyone, my names Katherine and I'm 18, I've been struggling with my body image for as long as i can rememberand been bulimic since i was 13. i was getting help a few years ago but i managed to convince my family and therapist that i was fully recovered a few years ago so I'm in a bit of an awkward situation at the moment.
@orangelime7984 - Hi Katherine, welcome to our community here! I can definitely relate to the struggle of relapsing when people are convinced you are already recovered. It can be hard because there are such a mix of feelings - from not wanting to disappoint them with finding out that you still need their support to sort of wanting to keep hiding it so you can continue. That said, it sounds like you could use their support right now, and I have to say, every time I have reached out to someone who helped me before, they have reacted well and just wanted to help me again. How do you think your family and therapist would react if you were honest about where you're at right now?
Hi everyone, i'm Emilia. I've been dealing with anorexia for 6 years now. But sincerely i've been struggling with food and with a bad body image sincw forever. My mom is an obese psychatrist and has always watched my diet. Recently i've started purging (1 year now) and after fainting once, i told my mom. She got very mad and started telling me to srop eating every time i ate with the family. So i lied and said i stopped. And for half a year i actually managed to purge less or for some weeks even to stop. But now i have relapsed and i feel really shitty :(. Anyways hello everyone i'm hapoy to have found this community ❤
@kiwilover31 - welcome to 7cups; I'm really glad you've found it! Relapse is so hard, but it is a natural part of the recovery process. If you think it would be helpful, you can try reaching out to one of our listeners for support as you try to get your recovery back on track or if you just want to talk through options, etc.
