Introduce yourself to the 7 Cups Eating Disorder Community!
Hello! I'm Lea; a sixteen-year-old who likes to dream. I'm focused on making weight loss a personal goal and change in my life, and learning how to gain confidence in what I do is very important.
I love the community here and I can't wait to keep exploring.
@heartly - welcome to the community, very glad to have you! I do want to check in, though, because posting that you have weight loss as a goal in an eating disorder forum makes me worry that you might be approaching it in an unhealthy way and I want to make sure you are taking care of yourself. If you ever need to talk, feel free to reach out.
Hi im Kate, 27 years old, suffering from bulimia for the past couple years (it spiralled out of control to the point I couldn't work any longer) seems likely I had bulimia for years before that but not like this. Briefly diagnosed with a restrictive disorder/anorexic bmi in my teens but recovered (me and food is a minefeild) and now Def not the same issue lol.
I'm sort of wannabe- recovery I guess? Trying really hard but just gaining weight so fast as keeping down too much and starting to eat outside binges. Trying to ignore as now borderline overweight.
Glad to have found this site (a friend recommended) hope to meet some new people and help support each other. So um... Hi! :-)
@fiddlesticks89 - I can relate to a lot of what you're saying, and I think it's really courageous of you to come here, to open up, and to be facing recovery despite how hard I know it is. You have taken the hardest steps already by deciding to commit to it and by starting to work to heal your body. The next steps are focused on healing the emotional side, too, because ultimately dealing with what sits under the eating disorder will be what helps you not slip back. If you need any extra support, feel free to PM me or any other listener. Take care and stay strong!
Hi guys, new to the board but not to my BED. Food has been a problem all my life. I stash it in the car, eat in secret. I'm so ashamed. This is such a lonely place to be in. I'm gaining so much weight I find leaving the house causes me anxiety. I also have a 13yr old son who I don't want to pass these issues on to.
i suffer from major depression. On [edited by Anomalia for medication specifics]. I sit on the couch all day, my house is a mess. I really want to shake this. My self esteem is at rock bottom which makes me frustrated, angry and depressed. I don't look after my personal hygiene levels some days because I don't feel worth it.
And so the cycle begins again. I just want to get back to a 'liveable' existence. Has anyone been in a similar situation. I would love to hear your thoughts, thanks, Westielover.
@practicalSouth1990 - Hi there, lovely. The first thing I want to say is that while I can completely relate to those feelings of not being worth it, I can promise you that you are. You are so worthy of joy and happiness and most importantly, peace with yourself. Not only are you worth it, you can do it. It's a lonely and cruel disease, but it's also one that you can overcome and that you don't need to be alone in.
You've already taken the first step by reaching out, which I know isn't easy. And that tells me that you can take the next steps towards recovery, too. And if you want, I can be with you through those steps. Feel free to PM me anytime.
And remember: you are worth SO much more than the value you place on yourself.

Is being so stressed out to the point u don't eat a medical problem I just can't do it not enough care to get up make or bite something this is first week I had not one thing I fill my gut with lots of water n tea
@Curtiskurtis - Whatever the cause is, not eating is definitely dangerous. I know that stress can definitely make you lose your appetite or your motivation to cook or eat sometimes, but your body needs nourishment, and I can almost guarantee that whatever is stressful right now is harder to deal with when you're malnourished. What do you think might help you eat? Could you find some things that are easier to get down (like if you're doing okay with liquids, maybe starting with soups or smoothies)? Or are there things that destress you even just a little bit to help you be able to eat? Take care of yourself. I know it's hard, but you can do it.
Hi, I'm 27, have struggled with depression, self harm, eating disorders and PTSD for about 15 years. I've been struggling on and off again since October, I've managed to regain some weight only to slip again. In the middle of a not so great relapse. Food is a really challenge at the moment.
@Twinklestar1 - I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling so much right now - I know how frustrating it is to make some progress and then slip back to where you were. In times when things have been a little easier, what helped you to regain some of the weight and to be able to nourish your body? Are there any tricks that you used before that might help again this time?
@Anomalia What really helped was when I had my kids, when pregnant and breastfeeding I had to look after myself as it would have a direct effect on them. Knowing that I was growing them inside of me and feeding them gave me the strength to eat. I kind of made peace with myself for a while (pregnant and breastfeeding 3 years back to back). It's funny I should be able to apply that logic to now. I need to be well to be able to look after them, unfortunately that Isn't the case. I'm kind of in the whole I'm functioning logic, or it's fine. I'll eat tomorrow. Tomorrow I'll be better. Then tomorrow comes and I just can't.
@Twinklestar1 - Reading your post was almost creepy it's so familiar. I'm 26 and have had issues with eating disorders for about 13 years. Becoming pregnant was one of the few times I allowed some relaxation but it was still really tough. I breastfed both of my children. but dried up sooner than they were ready, 8 months with the first and 11 months with the second. I am convinced it's because I restricted too much :( They did give me the courage to gain weight and appreciate my body, but it didn't last long. Tomorrow always sounds like the best time to try to eat better, but sometimes even just one meal is enough to make a small difference. When I've been fasting for over a day or two I typically can't even stand the thought of food and have a Boost or Smoothie King. If that doesn't work, at least know you're not in this alone
@Twinklestar1 sounds like it has been quite challenging for you.
Im struggling with this illness for like 10 years plus and im very miserable. My family has also become so broken because of this and my sisters all have anorexia as well because of all my influences and how food has been nothing but a struggle in the family. I also suffer from depression and life seems so tough. Im eating each day and trying to get by but often or not i always feel so suicidal and really wish i can end everything. Sometimes i get so sick of eating, and i really dont know how long more i can keep going. I am scared and fearful of weight gain too and i still feel im fat and disgusting though i know i look ugly.
@lonelysecrets - I'm sorry that you and your family have been struggling with this for so long - I know how hard it is to begin with and not being able to lean on your family as much for help must only make things more difficult. I think it shows incredible strength that you're reaching out here and that you are continuing to fight and to eat even when it's tough. And if you ever want to talk, you can feel free to PM me. Stay strong and keep fighting - you can do this!
Hi, I'm 35 years old and have had disordered eating for about 23 years.... I've had ups and downs over the years, my children probably saved my life, each time I've been pregnant I've got kind of 'better' and thought, right this is the beginning of being normal, but it never worked out. Ive been diagnosed as anorexic and have seen a dietician but I just can't make myself follow the advice through.. I'm at the end of my options and feel so alone
@indigoHumantic hello darling. You seem like really lovely and strong person. Dealing with an ED is really exhausting and I admire you for how long you've been fighting and that you're still here, with us. Personally, psychotherapy with an ED specialist helped me a lot. You keep trying to get better, because if you didn't you wouldn't be here. Well done. Are you seeing someone who specializes in eating disorders, or generally getting help for it ? You can contact me if you want to. Hope you'll get better from it, after all this years fighting with such a disgusting disease, you deserve it as hell.
