Mother is cheating

I had some suspicion that she was cheating on my father. One day I snooped onto her phone and found her messaging this man very inappropriate things. Turned out to be her brothers dead best friend brother… I’m so disappointed. How can she cheat on my father? If so, why not just get divorced instead. I found this out last Saturday and have been stuck in my head since then. I don’t know what to do… I’m just sick to my stomach.

I am so sorry to hear that.....no one hear can understand how you must be feeling right now.....but i think you should tell your mother that you know everything and try to talk with her.....you should look for the right moment to disclose this....because this will not be right for anyone.....your father unknown of your mother's relation is unfair to him and you carrying such a big secret is not good for your mental health.....talk to your parents....i know you must be hating your mom rn and you have the right to...but think about every scenario and make a decision that is best for your family.........i understand that you cannot easily digest your mother teaching on your father....but try to look deeper in the situation and talk to her.... tell her how you feel about this situation....and tell her even if you are disappointed on her......

Thank You. It’s so difficult to bring up a subject like that, it makes me feel uncomfortable. Especially because my mother was like my best friend and someone I really trusted. And now that I see her I can’t resist being disgusted and disappointed. I tried yesterday to bring it up, but I keep being hesitant… It is hard to talk to my parents, they are the type to take offense and get mad at me even though I am not in the wrong. I would have never thought something like this would happen…

Is your father ill with you two being his caregivers? I'm just trying to get the big picture here. I experienced something similar with my aunt and uncle, only it was my uncle doing the cheating while my aunt was getting chemo for cancer. I didn't tell her because he was supportive of her treatments and was a decent partner to her during that time. I wanted my aunt to be able to focus on her health only. I hope I made the right choice. It's hard to know what's the right thing to do. I imagine it's even tougher when it's your parents. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this!

Thank You. No my father is not ill. He is in fine condition. I just despise any form of cheating. It is hard to know whether you are doing the right thing or not.

@dontknow98

I'm with you on that one. If you aren't happy in your relationship, then you should communicate that to your partner and try to work on things. After that, the respectful thing is to ask for a divorce before moving onto someone else. I'm sorry that your mom put you in this situation, even if accidentally. I'm sure she didn't mean for you to find out, but hey, there are consequences for lying and sneaking and she took that risk. No matter what you decide to do, just remember that none of this is your fault. The aftermath isn't your fault either.
