My Dad Had An Affair
I'm not sure if this is the correct thread, but it's 10:20 PM and I'm shaking and my face is covered in dried tears and my mind is going haywire. My mom very, very recently (like an hour ago) found out my dad had an affair with another woman, and possibly even slept with said woman on Tuesday. I haven't cried this hard in so long and I am scared of tomorrow and the upcoming weeks, because I assume my mom will most likely file for a divorce. I'm also scared that if my parents do get divorced, there will possibly be court-stuff involved about custody and I don't wanna go through that. I don't know what the fuck to do
@ravenousrose Oh my I am so sorry to read this hun. First, take deep breathes while counting to 10 and continue past that until you feel calm. Second, the current situation, although it hurts you because those are your parent's who you love, that situation is something you have no buisness knowing about. Your too young and you don't need to carry the weight of adult problems. Third, realize that in this moment, no matter what happens, your parent's will always love you despite what they are going through. Don't let their problems become yours. You will forever be exhausted and it isn't worth it. Try to focus your mind on what calms you. I grew up in a single parent home with my mom. I got to see my dad on the weekends. He was there when I needed him and he is still apart of my life today at the age of 28. Sometimes, you don't learn the whole truth until you are older. Enjoy your youth while you can. Try your best not to worry. It will get better with time, I promise. I hope you are somewhere safe, I hope you talk to a family member you trust, and please don't cry my dear.
