Stressed Out

Well hi, this is my first time on here and I guess I just needed a place to vent. So my mom and I are having issues with my brother doing drugs and mental illness possibly. The way he is acting is all over the place. It’s sad but I can’t do anything about it because he himself does not want to change and he doesn’t see anything wrong with what he is doing. He is 25 and I’m 20 years old. I get irritated with my mom because she won’t put him out and I understand why because he has no where to go but still, why should we have to keep going through these stressful times and let him do as he pleases you know when simply kicking him out would be best but I know that’s her child. It’s frustrating for me. At this point, I just want to distance myself from him and cut all ties because it isn’t healthy at all. I am making plans to get my own place and such but I shouldn’t have to since he is the oldest but I guess sometimes you gotta remove yourself from the toxic situation. I just hope and pray that I am able to get my own apartment soon.

You are too young to deal with this. Start looking today for the apartment. It will be a process to get qualified. Is there a friend that you could go in with to help cut the rent costs? Days, weeks, months go by fast so start the process now. Keep praying for your Mom & brother. There may be some resentment on your Mom’s part as she sees you loading up your belongings and moving on. Your Mom is not doing your brother a service by keeping him there. He needs help beyond what your Mom can give him. Tell your Mom this is the last time I am telling you this but you cannot help him and you are not helping him. Also, tell her the next time we talk on the phone I do not want to hear about my brother’s problems and addiction. I have a life and want you to hear about my life and be happy for me. I didn’t choose the path of drugs so I don’t want to hear about it anymore and I am sorry he is going to ruin the rest of your life as well. Mom, I would appreciate your prayers for me and I will continue praying for you and my brother. Tell her you are excited to move on. God bless you and you can & will move on.

I agree with everything you said! I don’t have a friend that would be willing at the moment but my grandma has offered for me to stay with her if I need to and I probably will end up doing that until I can get an apartment. I will definitely be taking your advice and incorporating it into my reality. Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words. Many blessings to you.

Yes I think you need to go line with your Grandma. That is a solution for you. You are welcome.

@Goddessenergy8 I can sense your pain, reading your words. You feel that the present place has been lot unhealthy for you. You wish to be able to influence change in those around you, but you feel helpless and frustrated. And so you hope to shift to a healthier place soon. Until that can become possible, what small steps could be possible to ensure some health and sanity in the midst of a challenging environment?

Definitely enforcing boundaries, getting some quiet time, having a self care day, and to keep reminding myself that things will get better soon.

I hope you have called your Grandma and are packing your belongings. That’s an answer to your prayer. Go for it and remove yourself from the situation. The days are moving on and you need to take care of yourself.
