My bf and I have been together for a year and 5 months. (He is 27 and I’m 26) My bf was diagnosed with bipolar depression with psychotic features. About a year ago he had a really bad episode l, I removed myself from the situation and he had to be hospitalized. Since then he has been doing extremely well and getting the consistency in help he needed. My “best friend” told my parents about everything that happened and I did not find out for months that she told my parents. She saw me at my worst as my parents did not and still no want me to be with bf due to that episode he had. Turns out my best friend told my parents about all mine and my boyfriends issues that we had already worked through and moved past.

For that reason, my parents do not want me to be with him. We have been hiding our relationship for a year now (it’s long distance so it’s a little easier) from just my parents. My parents have told me that if I am with him they will not be a part of my life. I’m to the point where I want to tell my parents but am not sure how. Family is very important to me and I don’t want to lose my parents.

Any tips?

It sounds completely bizarre and you might've already tried it, but just sit them down and tell them, everything. make them feel empathy for you, so they know how you feel about it! hope you and your boyfriend are doing well❤️
