Adoptee Support-You’re welcome here
Hi all! My name is Lisa and I am an adoptee. I have significant experience with supporting adult adoptees who are struggling with adoption trauma, processing their adoption, in reunion with biological family, struggling how to communicate with their adoptive parents, trauma from out of home care, neglect/abuse/sexual assault from their adoptive parents, etc. I facilitate adoption support groups in my state and want to share my experiences here.
When I was looking for support to help me process my adoption the resources were essentially non existent. Trying to find a therapist who was competent in adoption trainings or had experience through lived experience was impossible. Despite the need for the need for resources for our community.
If you need to talk to someone who can “get it” or can appreciate your emotions/feelings, I’m here. The dynamics of adoption trauma are so complex that a non adoptee could never understand. You could have the best adoptive family and still have trauma.
Please feel free to post here or feel free to message me directly. Talking about your lived experience can be difficult and you may not want to publicly share it and that is ok. It’s YOUR STORY. I just want to help you process if you need the support.
