Friends Forcing Expectations

My friends family invited me to come work at their company, Starts 5am finishes 1pm, the pay is $14/hour. The thing is I told them I'll be getting a job in about 1-2 weeks, but they still expect me to come and work with them when it would only be for 1 week but the whole family chooses to ignore me when I say, "'ll be working soon," I've known this family for 9 years. I can't do $14 an hour, including for those hours.

I didn't go to the time they told me to go and are calling me and asking why didn't I go, After I told them already I can't do that type of work for $14 an hour, I feel really bad for them trying to passively aggressively force me to work for them. It just feels like their not respecting what I'm doing and must see me as a child or something. I feel bad for not going but I don't want to work for their friends company for 5 says then quit. It would make them look bad.
