Hello, earlier this year, I found out that someone who I thought was a very close friend was talking badly behind my back. I was going through a lot last year and this year only to be judged, criticized, and talked negatively by someone who I considered a best friend. I never told her who told me, but when I did confront her, they denied everything and put the blame on someone else differently because they thought a specific person told me when in reality, it was someone else. This told me she talks about me with more people, and I can't trust her. After the talk, I gave her another chance, and things seemed to go well until it was time for a huge event I said I could attend. There were two events that day, but due to a heavy workload, I could only participate in one of the two events from that day. I arrived at the second event, and when I got there, it was awkward; I was not greeted, and I kept trying to have a conversation with her and others, but I was being ignored, and sarcastic tones were thrown at me, and due to this, I left early. Fast forward to this month, I had invited her to a huge celebration months in advance for this month, and she confirmed a while back she could attend. But the week of she said she can't because she is going to other events. I felt something was off and the day of the events I found out she lied AGAIN, she never went to those places. I don't know what to do anymore when she keeps lying and she is not honest about how she feels. Should I just end this friendship or I don't know.

Side note, not even the other people I'm friends with talk to me so I'm worried she might have spoken badly about me with a lie.

It is a vicious circle ... but you know for a fact she had been talking behind your back and lying...... it showed her character when she when confronted place blame on someone else ..... someone she assumed told you....

IF she was a good friend why wasn't it her to come forward and say "hey some things are being said" .?????...

One can second guess all day why she did what she did ..... the fact is these "friends" are NOT friends if they take whatever she said about you as truth without question......... they should give you the benefit of doubt or if have concerns or questions ask you not gossip.

You can attend group events if you chose ...........no reason to hide .... i might even publicly state....... "it is sad when people take things said from someone without integrity as truth...."

It looks like you will need to develop a new friend set that is more mature.
