Saving my saviour
I suffered from depression I swear from birth, and it prevented me from living a meaningful life.
I self-reflected, and in the process my depression vanished. I now experience stable happiness and calm, peace of mind, and unprecedented clarity.
My best friend was foundational in my recovery. Without him, I don't believe I would be here. He was a bright light in extreme darkness. I see him as my personal saviour. He makes me think there could be such things as angels. His heart is so pure, his mind sharp and open.
And now I feel he is in crisis. I have reached out and invited him to talk, but I put little pressure on him. I know it's not always easy to confront your own feelings.
He saw me crack and crumble. He saw me lose my mind. I turned on him several times and it's one of my deepest regrets. That will never happen again, I saw the light, I know how to be now.
I'm not exactly asking for help. I think I know what to do, but I will always welcome fresh perspective. I have endless things to learn. I'm just screaming into the void as it allows me to process this trauma in real time. I refuse to break again. I am unbreakable.
Hello, how did your friend help you and was this friend someone you know in person? How is he struggling?
@CherishedDreamer
He gently encouraged me to live a healthy life. It was because of him that I rose out of bed and saw mornings. It was because of him that I saw the error in my ways and sought help. He acted as my memory as mine is shattered so I didn't miss out on my own life experiences. It is because of my bad memory that I can't remember all the kindness he showed me. He served as a shining example of how to be, meaningfully.
We've known each other in person for over twenty years, sometimes living together.
He has depression, yet it does not distort his thinking. He has anxiety and yet faces the day. He has ADHD yet gets things done. It is kind of paradoxical.
He is coping, but lacks direction. He is pulled between everything. He simply has too much on his plate and I cannot just make those problems disappear.
We talked. Like, really talked. It was like it was the first time I could participate in conversation with him. I trust he's going to be okay, nothing seems to break him.
Thanks for your reply, it means a lot. You helped me process my feelings.
