Building Support System

Hey everyone I'm looking to build long-lasting relationships with people on a deeper level. Many of my connections have been mainly acquaintances so I'm seeing how I can take it to the next level.

Some details about me: girl in early 20s who works at a property management company in the Chicago suburbs. Likes reading meditation music working out and just started a keto diet.

If you think we're a match, please heart my message or reach out to me!

Cheers!

I'm not local to you and I don't know if we'd have that much in common but I'm happy to share what helped me build a support system:

- Join hobby clubs and look into volunteer work. It helps a lot to put yourself where all the people near you who have common interests and goals are congregating. Some of my first "adult job" references came from volunteer work at a pet shelter where I just kept showing up until I became a familiar face.

- Try online groups catered to specific interests. This helped me embrace some of my more niche hobbies that I don't get to talk about often in real life, and being in the same spaces as others who already had that much in common with me gave me a lot of social confidence and led to many close friendships over time.

- When you hit it off well with someone, break out of your comfort zone with making it a closer friendship. Offer them favors, bring them small gifts that made you think of them, and learn the balance of being vulnerable and approachable to build emotional depth without oversharing too soon. I think for young adults deepening casual friendships is the hardest step because our generation can be rather flaky and noncommittal 😥 to be honest though I think people are afraid of putting themselves out there and getting rejected but the only way to get over that barrier is to keep trying till you find someone that reciprocates the effort.

Hey thanks for the advice! There's a local improv and toastmasters club near me that I've been meaning to join. I've also tried friendship apps but those haven't gone anywhere.

@courteousBlackberry7540 Good luck with the improv & toastmasters! Hopefully it ends up being a very positive and encouraging vibe with cool people and helps you build up your confidence even more :)

I've found friendship apps to be a little hit-or-miss because people can have such different expectations for the types of friendship they're seeking or offering. I've found more success in local social media groups + online spaces like *** for certain gaming and other hobbies I'm into. Some friends I made online on the latter, just by hanging out in the same spaces and playing the same games, eventually grew into close friendships where we visit each other irl.

Building meaningful connections and strong support systems helps people grow personally and professionally, especially when shared interests are involved. Similarly, tools like click here for more info make it easier to access property records, ownership details, and parcel information online in a simple and convenient way.
