Is it typical to have certain friends come and go instead of being a stable fixture in your life ? I have a couple friends whom I have known since elementary school. We’re had a couple falling outs instead of talking through problems. They’ll basically cut me off and it feels very tiresome and dramatic. But they eventually will reach out and apologize. Then we go back to talking regularly like nothing ever happened. But… I’m kinda tired of the cycle. I’ll be 30 in a few years. Either stay in my life or don’t, but I don’t want my forgiving heart to be taken advantage of. Maybe it’s common though?

@spicyavocado3788 I've never had friends outside cups. So I'm not sure if it's normal. But yeah that sounds like hard work, I don't think friendship should be hard work. I'm not really sure what to say. So I'm just gonna hug you ❤❤

While i agree it is not great this does happen IMO often .... when people get older they drift in and out it seems ...

Maybe they reconnect for various reasons...

i have seen people do this for networking ... not to talk or hang out with someone for years then all friendly because they remember a person has an "In" somewhere or could get a discount on something etc.

Some seem very superficial anymore how many real friendships can a person maintain correctly when they have work/ life /family... the time for being there often is limited.

It is common, because they will continue to come & go until the ties are strengthened or completely broken. Not everyone is meant to be in your life forever, even if you built this friendship way back from childhood, people come along at a time when you need them or they need you that doesn’t mean it’s going last for always, it’s karmic you possibly had something to learn by being part of these peoples lives or they had something to learn from you. Afterwards some we’re supposed to move on, it’s possible that what they was supposed to learn from you or what you were supposed to learn from them hasn’t happened yet . People serve a purpose in our lives, then some of them are going to eventually fade away, there are little signs, you can ignore them because you think you’re supposed to keep these people in your life
