Holding On to Hope Despite Everything

Hello, my name is Philes. I'm 19 years old and I'm from Kenya.

Life has been incredibly difficult for me. I lost both of my parents at a young age, and since then I've been trying to stay strong despite many hardships.

Recently, my brother was involved in a serious accident. He suffered a head injury, and after a CT scan, the doctors found bleeding in his brain. They told us he urgently needs brain surgery to save his life. Unfortunately, the surgery is very expensive, and we cannot afford it. The hospital is waiting for us to raise the money before they can proceed, and every passing day fills me with fear and anxiety.

I have gone from place to place asking for help, but so far I haven't found the support we need. The weight of grief, financial struggles, and the responsibility of caring for my brother has left me emotionally exhausted.

I'm here because I need someone to listen, offer guidance, and remind me that I'm not facing this alone. If you have any advice, emotional support, or know of any legitimate resources that could help, I would be deeply grateful.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

@philes I'm so sorry you had to go through all that! And I hope the hospital finds it in their hearts to spare some time and resources to help. I wish I knew of resources for you, but I do not know what you have in Kenya. I am from America. However, I can try to be emotional support. You seem to be going through so much, and it's really not fair to you. I hope there are sources in your country that can help pay for life-saving surgeries. 💜 You're trying your best and I see it.

Thank you so much for your kind words. Your message truly touched my heart. Knowing that someone cares enough to encourage me means more than I can express.

Sadly, things are very difficult here in Kenya. Corruption makes it incredibly hard for ordinary people to receive the help they desperately need, especially when it comes to medical care.

By God's grace, I recently came across someone who told me about a program called SHA. They said it may help cover part of my brother's surgery, and we could settle the remaining hospital bills afterward. The only obstacle is that I must first register, and the registration costs $80. Right now, I don't even have that amount.

I know you don't know me personally, and we've never met, so I completely understand if you're unable to help. But I wanted to humbly ask if you might be able to contribute anything at all—even $1 would mean a lot and bring me one step closer to registering.

My brother is in terrible pain. He can barely eat anymore, and watching him suffer while feeling helpless is heartbreaking. Every day I pray that somehow we'll find a way to get him the surgery he urgently needs.

Whether you're able to help financially or not, thank you for listening and for showing me kindness. Your compassion has given me hope, and I will never forget it. May God bless you. ❤️🙏
