How to mature in friendships?
I have this friend who calls me out over some of my immature past choices. I tried to move on and change, but we both felt like I didn’t and it hurt me because I wanted to become a better person for them; however I felt like I don’t want to let go of the fun and whimsical side of me.
Any advice?
Hi!
I can understand where you're coming from. Personally, I don't feel maturity can be taught. Mostly it just comes from personal experiences but I appreciate your willingness to be a better person for the people around you. I don't think you have to lose the fun and playful side of you for that.
The only thing I feel you can try is the be considerate about how an action can impact someone which means practicing pause. Pause before taking an action or decision. It will take some time but I believe you can do it. ❤️
The fun part of you is not the problem here. Sometimes immaturity only consists of impulsive decisions or actions. So, just taking a step back and reflecting on the impact can help. 🌸

It is difficult to change and mature with friends because they know of past actions.. I think people should be fun and whimsical and that is NOT always immature.
If you have a "friend" commenting on past choices and not seeing the growth you have had .. it can be jealousy that they want you to be in same place if you are exceeding their growth. They like being perhaps the more mature one .
Maturity comes to people at different rates by different experiences and IMO can not be measured by superficial things.
