It’s clear she wants to be in control

After two weeks of planning with a friend to have a girl’s birthday night out, for another friend, this friend who did all the planning decided to cancel at the last minute. Why? She was suddenly tired from a big party the night before. So she canceled an hour before, when our other friends were getting ready to leave to meet up.

As a back story, she’s autistic and helps to run some autism related socials. However, she appears to be self-absorbed and lives in her own world. She also doesn’t seem to think about the feelings of others.

When I confronted her about it, first of all, it was all about her. She thought it was one of her socials and didn’t anything to go on unless she was there.

So I told her, twice that this was not on her her socials, it was just a girl’s night.

@Summershy

I'm sorry to hear that your friend cancelled at the last minute, especially after two weeks of planning for your other friend's birthday. It's understandable that you're feeling disappointed and frustrated with the situation. However, it's important to consider your friend's autism and how it may impact her social interactions and ability to understand the feelings of others. It sounds like you tried to communicate this to her and clarify the nature of the event, but she may still have misunderstood. It's important to continue to have open and honest communication with your friend to ensure everyone is on the same page in future social situations. I hope that you and your friends were still able to have a good time despite the cancellation 😊

Hi,

no one got together after she cancelled the event. Yes, I am well aware there are things that she may have a hard time understanding. On the other hand, she does have a manipulative side and as my other friend and I had tried to confront her. For example, she kept apologizing but also justified her actions with excuses.

@Summershy I'm sorry to hear that your plans fell through. It can be frustrating when plans don't work out as expected, and I can understand why you might feel like your friend is being manipulative. However, it's important to keep in mind that people with autism often have difficulty with communication and social interaction, and may not always understand the impact of their actions. Best of luck ❤️

Update: A former counselor and a good friend is talking to my other friend and I and even gave both of them good insight. I’m also going to talk to my friend and her counselor about the situation.
