Limerence in a new friendship

So I joined up with a thing called DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) since there was a chapter in my area, and I figured meeting people would be good for me

The thing that sucks, is one of these people I've met, I caught limerence for. I don't even know why, I just got an ounce of attention from them, and now they're on my mind a lot more than they should be. I do genuinely vibe with this person, I think they're pretty chill, but we also haven't even properly met in person yet, at the same time, I don't want this stupid obsession with someone I just met

I just don't know how well I can balance these intense feelings with the desire to know them more, because I know my bad habits. I know where it comes from too, I have these unmet needs, a need for companionship, friendship, just not being lonely, and I feel like I've already tainted this opportunity

I don't wanna have to cut them off early. I don't know if I should even tell them, maybe it'll help get a grasp on proper boundaries in our friendship, but at the same time, I doubt any normal person is gonna react positively to a person they just met saying they have this weird little crush already. I don't wanna offload them with a bunch of stuff all at once and ruin something that seems to be going well

I admire your honesty and recognising where your needs arise from.

Self awareness is important.

I would just take things slowly.

Keep it on a civil level.

Say nothing personal.

And let things develop organically, without any pressure at all 🩵🤗

Thank you. I'm going to try my best with it, and not overstep boundaries. I've had similar experiences with friends in the past with limerence, I just didn't know they were limerence, but now that I know more, I do feel confident enough to do this, and foster a good relationship between this person and I

I really appreciate the encouragement, this stuff is just hard for me, and I just don't wanna push people away from me anymore with self destructive habits

My pleasure, yes, I understand, self destructive patterns and behaviours are good to be aware of to give you the best foot forward in any new friendship 🩵🩵🤗
